This study analyzed injury data from the medical records of 35 professional soccer players on a Brazilian premier league team over the 2009 season. A total of 95 injuries were recorded, with more occurring during training (53 injuries) than matches (42 injuries). Most injuries were to the lower limbs and were muscular in nature. Midfielders and strikers experienced injuries most frequently. The leading cause of injuries was collisions between players during training. The results suggest the need for improved safety measures during training to help prevent injuries.

Eccentric training can improve muscle strength, power, and stretch-shortening cycle function to a greater extent than concentric or traditional resistance training. While both eccentric and concentric training increase muscle strength, the increases tend to be mode-specific. Eccentric training with loads greater than concentric strength limits elicits greater overall strength gains. Faster contraction velocities during eccentric training may further enhance strength and power adaptations. Eccentric training appears especially effective for improving performance requiring stretch-shortening cycle function.

Jeder Profiverein beschäftigt eine oder mehrere Personen, die für den Bereich der Spielanalyse zuständig sind. Doch ein klares Berufsbild gibt es bisher nicht. Fortbildungsangebote existieren inzwischen für sämtliche Experten eines Trainerteams, ausgenommen für den Spielanalysten. Wer unser Hochschulzertifikat „Spielanalyst Fußball“ durchläuft, erkennt, dass er im Verein klare Aufgaben und Verantwortungsbereiche hat und dazu entsprechende Kenntnisse und Kompetenzen benötigt, die er sich in diesem Programm theoretisch fundiert, aber praxisnah aneignen kann.
