Albert Kahn (1860-1940) nutzte sein Vermögen, um das größte ethnologische Foto- und Filmprojekt seiner Zeit, das 'Archiv des Planeten', zu schaffen, welches über 72.000 Farbfotografien und mehr als hundert Stunden Film aus der ganzen Welt umfasst. Sein Ziel war es, durch visuelle Darstellungen des alltäglichen Lebens das Verständnis für andere Kulturen zu fördern und eine friedlichere Welt zu schaffen. Trotz seines anfänglichen Reichtums führte der Wall Street Crash 1929 zur finanziellen Ruine und zwang ihn 1931, sein Projekt zu beenden; Kahn starb 1940 verarmt.

40. 1914 At the start of 1929 Kahn was still one of the richest men in Europe. Later that year the Wall Street Crash reduced his financial empire to rubble and in 1931 he was forced to bring his project to an end. Kahn died in poverty 1940. Am Anfang von 1929 war Kahn noch einer der reichsten Männer in Europa. Später in diesem Jahr reduzierte der Wall Street Crash sein Finanzreich auf wenige Teile, 1931 wurde er gezwungen, sein Projekt zu einem Ende zu bringen.
