1. Shawn William Parker Committed to Community Growth
Program
For more than five years, Shawn William Parker worked as the
Senior Manager of Community/Public Affairs for Energy Future
Holdings in Dallas, Texas. During this time, he was directly
responsible for managing community advocacy and implementing
outreach strategies for the company and its affiliates. Parker
was instrumental in raising brand awareness through signature
programs such as Energy Future Holding’s Committed to Community
Growth program.
The Committed to Community Growth program was one that saw the
company donate thousands of trees across Texas to areas of need,
including public parks, municipalities and schools. One such
area was Palestine, Texas, which received a donation of more
than 100 trees in May 2010. The trees were welcomed by
representatives from Energy Future Holdings, local city leaders,
and officials from the Palestine Independent School District.
Various types of trees were donated, including Chinese pistache,
bur oak, eastern redbud, and live oak.
In 2014, Energy Future Holdings made another donation to Coppell
Nature Park of eighteen trees, most of which were taller than
ten feet. The contribution was a partnership between TXU and the
Texas Trees Foundation. In providing the trees, the companies
hoped that they would beautify the community and make it a
greener environment for generations to come.
