• John 14:16/17&25 counsellor (comforter), spirit of truth,
in us and with us

• Hebrews 9:14 – eternal

4. What is the Holy Spirit like?
Wind – Acts 2:2, John 3:8
• Acts 2:2 Suddenly there was a noise from
heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It
filled the house where they were meeting.
• John 3:8 Only God's Spirit gives new life.
The Spirit is like the wind that blows
wherever it wants to. You can hear the
wind, but you don't know where it comes
from or where it is going.

Fire –Matt 3:11
• Matt 3:1 I baptize you with water so that you will
give up your sins. But someone more powerful is
going to come, and I am not good enough even
to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the
Holy Spirit and with fire.
• Acts 2:3 Then they saw what looked like fiery
tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue
came and settled on each person there.

Water – Isaiah 44:3, John 7:38-39
• Isaiah 44:3 I will bless the thirsty land by
sending streams of water; I will bless your
descendants by giving them my Spirit.
• John 7:38-39 Have faith in me, and you will
have life-giving water flowing from deep inside
you, just as the Scriptures say." Jesus was
talking about the Holy Spirit, who would be
given to everyone that had faith in him. The
Spirit had not yet been given to anyone, since
Jesus had not yet been given his full glory.

A Dove – Matt 3:16
• So Jesus was baptized. And as soon as
he came out of the water, the sky opened,
and he saw the Spirit of God coming down
on him like a dove.

Oil – Psalm 133:2, Exodus 27:20
• Psalm 133:2 It is as beautiful as olive oil
poured on Aaron's head and running down
his beard and the collar of his robe.
• Exodus 27:20 Command the people of
Israel to supply you with the purest olive
oil. Do this so the lamp will keep burning.

Clothing – Luke 24:49
• I am going to send you what my
Father has promised; but stay in the
city until you have been clothed with
power from on high.

• As bad as you are, you still know how to
give good gifts to your children. But your
heavenly Father is even more ready to
give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks.
