This is the slideshow I walked the youth through to present to discuss the controversial subject of homosexuality from a biblical perspective and how a Christian should respond.

1. Homosexuality:
What does God say?

2. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not
perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
God is… LOVE 1 John 4:8
He loves everyone,
and wants a
relationship with all
of us.

3. “Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your
What is the greatest mind.‟ This is the first and
greatest commandment. And
commandment? the second is like it: „Love your
neighbor as yourself.’”

4. God is also HOLYIsaiah 6:3
God does not love sin. Sin separates us
from God.

5. So…
While God may love us, he
doesn’t love everything we
do.
Parents analogy: They love you no matter
what, but they don’t always love
everything that you do.

6. There are many things (sin) that can separate
us from God:
Jealousy, greed, hate, disobedience to
parents, gossip, lust, lying, cheating,
stealing, laziness, slander,
pornography, etc…
Sin is sin. God doesn’t like any of it.

7. God created things with a certain
ORDER.
“He created them male and female… and
blessed them.. and told them to be
fruitful and multiply.”
(Genesis 1:27-28)

8. Conflicting Desires
Is homosexuality a choice or are people born that
way?
…It’s complicated.
I’ve met people who said it was a choice for them.
I’ve met people who said they always felt different
from a young age. They have great internal
struggle. They feel like outsiders, people tease
them, bully them, they have these conflicting
desires and they don’t know what to do with them.

9. Compassion is very important!
This is where many people (including many
Christians) get it wrong.
Jesus hung out with the outcasts, the
poor, prostitutes, those with diseases, etc. He
teaches us the greatest commandment is to love
God and love others.
Jesus showed great love to people.
People where about to stone a woman who committed adultery,
Jesus defends her, shows great compassion,
And tells her to sin no more.

10. So what does the Bible say?
The Bible teaches very specifically, and very clearly that
the practice of homosexuality is a sin.
Where does it say this?
 1 Corinthians 6:9 – “Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the
kingdom of God… but you were washed and made clean by the Lord Jesus
Christ”.
 Leviticus 18:22 – “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it
is an abomination.”
 Romans 1:26-27 – “For this reason God gave them up
to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for
those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural
relations with women and were consumed with passion for one
another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in
themselves the due penalty for their error.”

11. “For all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God”
Jealousy, greed, hate, disobedience to
parents, gossip, lust, lying, cheating,
stealing, laziness, slander, pornography,
homosexuality, etc…
All of these things separate us from God.
Homosexuality isn’t necessarily a worse sin
than others – society is the one that puts a
large focus on it.

12. God sent us his only Son Jesus Christ.
Jesus was born of a virgin.
He lived a perfect sinless life.
He taught us the way to live an abundant life,
things we should steer clear of, and
how to go to heaven.
He laid down his life as a sacrifice to
forgive us and to cover our sins. It is a gift
from God.
Question: Will you choose to receive this
gift?

13. Repent and Believe
Romans 9:10 – “If you confess with your mouth
Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead you will be saved.”
Proverbs 28:13 – “Whoever conceals their sins
does not prosper, but the one who confesses and
renounces them finds mercy.”
1 John 1:6 – “If we claim to have fellowship with
him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do
not live out the truth.”

14. Fighting sin is not easy…
God gives us tools:
 The Holy Spirit
 God’s Word
 Loving Christian Community (church, youth, etc)
 Prayer
 Spiritual Armor
Many people have been saved from the
practice of homosexuality, addiction to
pornography, drug addition, being a
gossiper, slanderer, lying, cheating,
stealing, etc.

15. As a Christian, you will still fall
short
 God’s love for us never changes. You will fall
short.
 “There is now no condemnation for those who
are in Christ Jesus.”
 When you sin, turn to Jesus, ask for
forgiveness, and if you need to, talk to some one
you can trust for help. Don’t struggle and keep it
to yourself.

16. Jesus was the only perfect
person
 All of us are imperfect and going to struggle with
sin for our entire life.
 Jesus calls us to “deny ourselves and follow him”.
 He died to forgive us and give us a new life, not
to keep on sinning, but to free us for joyful and
right living. Rejecting sin and putting on Christ.

 As a Christian, your primary duty is to:
o Love God
o Love Others
 Don’t miss this!!!God is

LOVE not
Focus on your own sins and weaknesses,
others.
“How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck
out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your
own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and
then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's
eye.”
God is
 Take your sins, fears, struggles, joys, life to Jesus
