3. The #1 Myth About Money
3Key Verses
• John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in
him should not perish but have eternal life. For
God did not send his Son into the world to
condemn the world, but in order that the world
might be saved through him.
• Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God he created him; male
and female he created them. And God blessed
them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and
multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and
have dominion over the fish of the sea and over
the birds of the heavens and over every living
thing that moves on the earth."
4. The #1 Myth About Money
4Key Issues
• When generosity and giving are
involved, God has a way of “changing
the math.” Over the course of our
lives, we find that we never really
lose when we give generously.
• His kingdom priorities focus on
giving and being generous. Giving is
the lifeblood of the believer.
Generosity is necessary for our hearts
to beat. It transforms us.

8Video Discussion
If God and your church don’t
“need” your money, then why
does God want you to give?
Discuss how giving has:
• Made you more Christ-like
• Enriched your praise and worship
• Involved you in spiritual warfare
• Increased your stewardship
responsibilities
9. The #1 Myth About Money
9Bible Exploration
• Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-12 and discuss
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap
sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap
bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in
his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God
loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all
grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all
things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
9 As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given
to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." 10 ¶ He
who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will
supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase
the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched
in every way to be generous in every way, which through
us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry
of this service is not only supplying the needs of the
saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to
God.

10Living the Truth
• List some ways that you, your family,
and your church wisely take
advantage of the “displacement
theory” (taking the place in the world
of that which is evil and filling it with
God’s glory)?
• Choose one practical and generous
goal, make a plan to achieve it, and
take the first step!
11. The #1 Myth About Money
11Conclusion
•Generous giving frees us to do
more for the kingdom of God. It
also serves as a reminder that
He owns it all and that we are
asset managers for His glory.
Faithful managers are given
more to handle. Those who
cannot be trusted are not
entrusted with more.
