Epidemiological Status
• Global pandemic originating in Wuhan, China
• Infectious disease. Think flu AND respiratory diseases
• High rate of transmission R0 = 2+. Fast spreading, super viral
• Estimated low rate of fatality ~ 0.06% to 1.2% among general population
• Massively fatal in high risk populations
• High prevalence will overwhelm existing ICU resources
Economic State
• Trillions of dollars lost in global GDP as containment is 8 weeks from first 1000 cases
• Central banks have credit and liquidity facilities
• Must pay folks to stay home
• US passed a 2T bill, EU to pass €0.5B buffer for economic backstop
• Demand side and supply side shocks plus oil war

Technology Status
• Work from home and remote technologies in place
• Cloud enables decentralized compute and storage
• Customers seek single plane to manage and hyper converged infrastructure
• Investment in automation, analytics, and AI will go up
• Overall investments in IT will drop 11 to 14%
