[object Object],Every name tells a story.And Guwahati’s has been one with a long history.Guwahati, regarded as India’s future growth hub vis-à-vis an East-looking policy,is more than just the capital of Assam.It’s an ancient seat of enlightenment turned market-city –haati(bazaar) of Guwa(areca nut)-turned gateway to the North-East.And,by virtue of its strategic location,a fiscal force that control’s the region’s money market.

Around 69% of state’s total workforce is engaged in agriculture and allied activities, and attention to this sector has seen improved agricultural practices, multiple cropping and high yields, though not to desired levels. The contribution of the sector to the Net State Domestic Product(NSDP) in 2002-03 was 29.6% at constant (1993-94) prices and 30.34% at current prices as against 39.43% and 31.69% respectively.

[object Object],[object Object],Other than rice, Assam produces various food and cash crops.Wheat,mustard,oil seeds,patoto,coconut,fruits,sugarcane and areca nuts come under the former category,while jute and cotton fall in the latter. Blessed with a wide variety of medicinal and aromatic plants which grow naturally,systematic cultivation has been practice only lately.Floriculture too holds out immense promise.Jatropha cultivation for producing bio-diesel may pave the way to economic prosperity in the near future.The agar industry rakes in handsome profit,though scientific and commercial cultivation of the agar yielding Sanchi tree is yet to take off Considering the commercial importance of spices the Deparment of Agriculture in an effort to generate awareness observed 2002-03 as Year Of Spices.In all,23 rapid multiplication centres were set for production of black pepper seedlings of elite varieties. Large-scale area preparation for black pepper was started in Jorhat and Karimganj Districts.Karbi-along district also produces a good quality of ginger

Tourism: Assam has a tremendous potential for tourist.Kaziranga National Park which is famous for single horn Rhino,also declared as World’s Heritage site.Manas Tiger Project is another important place. Dibru-Saikhowa is also famous for wild horse.Deepar Beel Bird Sanctuary(Ramsar site) within Guwahati’s municipal limits kissing,Dehing-Patkai rainforest in eastern Assam and wildlife sanctuaries from Amchang kissing Guwahati to Pobitora,Laokhowa, Chakrashilla, Kakoijana,Nambar-garampani,Bornadi,Burhachapori,panidihing,holongapar gibbon,sonoi-rupai,bordoibam-bilmukh,bherjan-borajan-padumani,marat longri,east and north Karbi-along to barail in Cachar District. Thus we have given a short sketch on Assam & it’s scope to invest in various fields.Still Assam has a potential market for the investors to invest in Assam, so here it is our small effort to bring investors from your place as well as others. From time to time we are trying to highlight about investment scope in Assam before the world. Already we had meeting with the, ambassador of Tazikistan, a business group of USA & trying to communicate our neighboring countries as well as leading countries like Japan, China, German etc. Hope we will succeed in bringing economic upliftment of Assam as well as Northeast region.
