Walk to Kempe Gowda’s towers

We believe and claim to be the firs t people to walk to all the four towers of Kempe Gowda in modern
times . At Uls oor lake, s hot by a s tranger with KD's camera.
In a book “Best of Bangalore ” I got in exchange for old books at Blossoms in Church Street, I
read about the history of Bangalore. Kempe Gowda founded the city and his successor Kempe
Gowda II built four watch towers to mark the boundary of Bangalore which exists to this day. I
decided to walk to the towers. I found two friends to join me unlike before.
The towers are at Mekhri Circle, Ulsoor lake, Lalbagh and Kempambudhi lake. Thanks to Anoop
and Arun for locating the four towers and marking them on the map. The task for us was easy –
to simply walk
.

That's why.

8. The walk to last tower was hard. Painstaking. Heat and traffic. It’s the part you asked yourself
“Why the hell am I doing this?”. We retreated to interior roads away from the busy main road in
search of shade and peace. On the way we met these cool bikers.

10. At 1430 we set foot on the last tower at Kempambudhi lake near Chamarajpet. Picture? It’s
identical to the others. Was it worth it? YES. So my friend, that is how you find an adventure in
town, in the seemingly ordinary.
