3. Epididymis
• Along posterior (post-lat)
border of testis
• Single long tube, coiled –
6 m
• Receives efferent
ductules at head
• Continuous with Ductus
Deferens
• Parts: head, body, tail
4.
5. Epididymis
• Sinus of epididymis: narrow slit
b/w epididymis and testis
• Blood supply: branch from
testicular A
• Dev: mesonephric duct
• Appendix of epididymis:
remnant of mesonephric
tubule
• Paradidymis: at lower end of
spermatic cord
6. Histology
• Smooth regular lumen
• Pesudostratified
columnar with
stereocilia
• Circularly arranged
smooth muscle fibres
– Thicker at distal end
9. Ductus / vas Deferens
• Thick walled muscular tube
• Tail of epididymis -> spermatic cord ->
Enters abd at deep ring -> side wall & floor
of pelvis ->back of bladder ->
10.
11.
12. Course & Relations
• At deep inguinal ring: hooks around inter-foveolar
ligament & inf epigastric A,
• Crosses ext iliac A & V, obliterated umbilical
artery, obturator N, A & V,
• Cross above the ureter, approaches opposite
fellow, turn downward and dilate to form ampulla
• Join with seminal vesicle to form ejaculatory duct
• Blood supply: artery to vas, br of inf vesical artery
13.
14.
15. Histology
• Small lumen folded irregular
• Pesudostratified columnar
ep with stereocilia
• Lamina propria – Fibro
elastic (thin)
• Muscular layer - 3, Thick,
palpable (cord like)
• Adventitia - fibroelastic
• Surrounded by arteries,
nerves, lymphatics &
pampiniform plexus
16. Seminal vesicle
• Paired, thin walled,
elongated, lobulated
sac
• Blind tube folded on
itself
• On base of bladder
above the prostate,
• Post – rectovesical
fascia
17. Seminal vesicle
• Join lower end of
ampulla of vas ->
ejaculatory duct
• 80% of seminal fluid,
imparts motility
• Vesical & middle rectal A
• Dev: mesonephric duct
