Jesus tells Pilate that he is indeed a king, having been born for that purpose. He says he came to bring truth to the world, and that all who love the truth will recognize his words are true. The passage then describes a poll finding that most Americans are familiar with Christian teachings but their beliefs are unlikely to change. It then describes Jesus' encounter with a Samaritan woman at a well, where he reveals details of her personal life and tells her he can give her living water to satisfy her deepest needs.
