Mentoring is a collaborative, mutually beneficial partnership between a
Mentor (who possesses greater skills, knowledge and experience) and a
Protégé (who is looking to increase his or her skills, knowledge and
experience).

Etymology
Mentoring

The word “mentor” came from the friend of Odysseus and the adviser of
Telemachus in the Odyssey by Homer.
It means “wise adviser.”
It came from Greek, and was first used in common speech 1750.
It was first used as a verb in 1888.
