The poem deals with our sense of
anxiety when we start showing signs of
ageing. Everyone wishes to stay
youthful and beautiful all one’s life.
However this, being against the law of
nature, can never be possible. Hence we
need to develop an inner strength to face
all stages of life gracefully.
4. Stanza 1
I am silver and exact . I have no
preconceptions
Whatever I see I Swallow
immediately
Just as it is , unmisted by love or
dislike
I am not cruel , only truthful
6. Stanza 2
The eye of a little god , four cornered.
Most of the times meditate on the
opposite wall.
It is pink with speckles. I have looked
at it so long
I think it is part of my heart . But it
flickers.
Faces and darkness separate us over
and over.
7. Explanation :
The mirror says that it is above any kind of
personnel feeling . It is like a god who sees the
truth and views everything from all corners of
world . It is something mystic and divine above
the ordinary and the worldly so like god mirror
looks everything with equal eye . Most of the
time , it keeps thinking about the opposite wall
which is pink in colour.
Explanation
The mirror says that it is above any kind of personal feeling . It is
like a god who sees the truth and views everything from all corners
of the world . It is something mystical and divine, above the
ordinary and the worldly. So, like god , the mirror looks everything
with equal eye . Most of the time , it keeps thinking about the
opposite wall which is pink in colour. It has grown passionate about
the wall and the wall has became a part of his heart. But the wall
flickers and its image is distorted by darkness & the faces of the
people.
10. Stanza 4 :
I am important to her. She comes and goes.
Each morning it is her face that replaces the
darkness
In me she has drowned a young girl and in
me an old woman
Rises towards her day after day like a terrible
fish.

without indulging in self-pity.
