2. Genre: Electro-pop/electro house
The Genre electro pop isn’t a main genre itself but its sub genre of Pop. I’ve chosen this
genre because its vibrant use of electrical instruments to make the song look catchy.
Electro-pop songs tend to catch your attention as soon as they start playing. I also chose
this genre because it’s a popular genre in the 21st century where now days mostly all songs
produce in genre. The videos of electro-pop songs never have a certain theme, Their videos
follow a certain script, Usually the video of songs of this genre shows the artist performing
in a club or in a street and the video also ends up having the artist performing in a club.
American Electro pop singer, Ke$ha is one of the most successful artist on this genre, Her
song “ Tik Tok “ is a prime example of how the electro pop song videos are made with the
artist seen performing in random places.
3. History of Electro-pop
Electronic music wasn’t popular until the 1970s, The development of the Moog synthesizer by
Dr. Robert Moog paved the way for this genre to develop. The first synthesizer was analog
based one and Bands such as Beatles and PINK Floyd heavily benefitted from it. In the 70s The
German band “Kraftwork” and Japanese band “ The yellow Magic orchestra “ dominated the
genre and gained wide public acceptance as this genre was something completely new. The
sound the synthesizer's had revolutionized the use of electronic medium in producing music.
The genre gained even a wider public acceptance in the 1980s as artist frequently started
developing electro-pop music, Artists such Afrika bambaata who is known as the father of
electronic music one of the first DJ to endorse this genre. His albums made millions making
the genre even more popular, In the 90s. We saw the emergence of artist like Madonna who
the people didn’t only listen but used to idolize the way she dressed up. The electro-pop genre
brought this new culture with people wanting to dress up like DJs. After 2000. The emergence
of David Guetta, Britney Spear, Demi lovato completely took the genre to another level, The
synthesizers now used to produce music were more advanced now, club music got popular
and Now almost all artist try to experiment with this genre as they consider they can control
the music more accurately in this genre.
5. How The Genre Electro-pop works
The Electro-pop music is produced by a lot of instruments, The basic feature that simply
distinguishes the genre from other genres is that use of heavy electronic devices such
synthesizers, They merge up the sound. As now days computers are so advanced, The song is
first however recorded and tune of the song is entirely created on a personal computer, The
excessive use of Drum Machines, A drum machine is an electronic musical
instrument designed to imitate the sound of drums or other percussion instruments. The beat
that is created or heard in electro pop song are created by using the drum machine . With the
help of Tape loops, The musician create musical patterns or dense layers of sound when
played on a tape recorder. Different Software are used in order to balance out the music
where to pitch the high notes of the song, Where to lower the sound of the music so the artist
and lyrics could be understood by the audience, Highly advance applications are used these
days. David Guetta and his songs is a prime examples how different electronic devices are
merged up together to make electro-pop music.
6. Ke$ha
Ke$ha is one of the most successful artist of this genre, with selling over 35 million records in the US alone and over 57
million worldwide. Ke$ha draws her inspiration from Pop Queens such a Madonna,. The music she creates usually doesn’t
have one central theme but it revolves around Partying, Individualism and escaping the reality. Mostly her music is centered
on a rebellious theme with her music videos showing the artist continuously having a rebellious attitude. She also achieved
two number-one singles, “Tik ToK" and "We R Who We R", Kesha himself carries the electro Pop culture, The common
feature between heavy metal and electro pop feature that is seen in following the cultures is having rebelliousness in every
aspect. Ke$ha is often seen and endorses the rebellious nature in her music video, Just like how the heavy metal genre does.
The song tik tok and Its lyrics show the fact that how the culture of electro-pop music is displayed

7. Gym Class Heroes
Gym class heroes is an another example how popular the genre had become in the late 90s. Gym class heroes was formed in
1997. The group released its first album “ The Paper cut Chronicle's “ in 2005 although the band started of initially playing at
their friends, bbq places, Random gatherings but they soon gain prominence and initially did the “Wrapped tour”. The group
has released 4 albums with “ The Paper cut Chronicles 2 ” gaining wide popularity and is the most sold album after their 2nd
album “ As cruel as School Children “. The band however sings in collaboration with other artist, They do sing by themselves
but most of the top 10 billboard chart songs have come off with collaboration with various other artists. They associated
themselves with Cobra starships and Patrick and their famous collaboration with Adam Levine of Maroon 5 to produce “
Stereo hearts which topped the billboard charts and this song was the way the Gym Class heroes announced themselves back
at the public stage in 2011 after leaving it in 2006

9. Song For Music Video
The songs which I’ve chosen from this genre are “Time( Candles )” by Natasha Humairza Ejaz and “When we’re Older” by Red
blood Cats. Natasha Humaira Ejaz is renowned underground singer in Pakistan and has worked in India. She also got a music
scholarship at UC Berkley and produced the song after she came back home. Natasha gained limelight when she started
working fm 89 with famous stand up comedian Danish Ali. She has done theater all her life and has her own theater show “
The Insolent Knights “. She also tried her hand at coke studio but was rejected after 5 days as the director of Coke studio
Rohaill Hyatt told her that her voice wasn’t matching the songs contact as a backup vocalist. This encouraged Humaira to
leave her marketing job and pursued the profession of a musician, She’s not only a musician but a writer and actor at the
same time. All of this was discovered with an Interview with Islambad The capital, a private blog. She hasn’t released an
album yet all of her sings are singles.
Natasha Humaira Ejaz
10. The song that I’ve chosen is Time(Candles) Natasha Humaira Ejaz. The song is of electro pop genre however it differs slightly
from the electro pop songs by Famous band like LMFAO, Kesha or Gym Class heroes. The thing with this genre is that nit every
sing will be of full of beats as the genre varies from song to song. If party rock anthem is being played one can dance on it
however if at the same time Gym Class heroes “ Stereo heart” is being played one wont look normal on dancing on that as
there is a vast difference between the beats of two songs party rock anthem is high beat pumped song while stereo hearts is
a normal electro/pop song. Even though both the songs fall in the same genre yet they look so different when heard, Similarly
speaking the Song time( Candles ) by Natasha is of electro-pop genre but it too has a low beat just like stereo hearts. The song
does however falls in other genres also such as indie. This is where the modern day music problem lies you can’t just
categorize one song in on genre. The music now days being made falls into multiple genres. It Might Get Glitchy‘ is a
collaborative project by Natasha Humera Ejaz and Rishabh Rajan. Rishabh is a famous indian director . The song that I’ve
chosen is from this collaborative genre
