Mother Teresa was born in 1910 in Macedonia and died in 1997. She was called to religious life at a young age and joined the Sisters of Loreto as a nun in 1928. Throughout her life, she helped establish hundreds of missions across India and around the world to help the sick and poor. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her humanitarian work.

Mother Teresa was born on the 26th of August 1910
but is known to be born on the 27th because that was
the day she was baptized. Mother Teresa was born in
the Skopje Republic of Macedonia. Mother Teresa
was the youngest child in her family. Her parents
were Nikolle and Drana Dojaxhiu. Mother Teresa died
on the 5th of September 1997.
3. Early Life
Mother Teresa or as some know, Anges Gonxha Dojaxhiu’s
dad died when she was eight. He was involved in Albanian
Politics. She was then raised by her Mum Drana, Roman
Catholic. Teresa was convinced by the age of twelve that
she should commit herself to a religious life. Mother Teresa
finally decided on the 15th of August 1928 while praying at
the Shrine of the Black Madonna to take this step. Teresa
left home at the age of 18 to join the Sisters of Missionary.
She never saw her mum or sister again.
She took her first religious vows as a nun on the 24th of
May 1931. In 1944 she became head mistress at the Loreto
Convent School.

Influences:
Mother Teresa was very blessed. Most people looked
up to her with great respect. She helped the poor and
gave all of her money to people in need. Sick people
were blessed by Mother Teresa and taken out of
hospital. The Missionary’s of Charity grew and
expanded. By the end of all her work there were 517
Missions in 100 countries, 450 different centres that
Mother Teresa had helped.

Mother Teresa helped people with Leprosy. Most
people wouldn’t go near people with leprosy let a
lone help them. Mother Teresa went around people
who deadly diseases and she did not catch them. She
had great courage in the lord. Mother Teresa is also
known for being head of Charity.
6. Major achievements and Awards:
Mother Teresa was awarded the Pope John XXll
Peace Prize for dealing with special and disabled
children. Then again in 1979, she was awarded the
Noble Peace Prize which brought the rich and poor
nations together. Instead of a formal dinner Mother
Teresa asked for the money to be given to the poor.
7. Death Days:
Mother Teresa suffered from poor health. As a result
of this, on the 13th of March 1997 she stepped down
from head of Missionaries of Charity. Teresa died on
the 5th on September 1997. People respected Mother
Teresa and her death was hard.
