2. Find a job advert for a job that you think that you could do
3. Read it three times
4. On the FOURTH time of reading the job advert, take a highlighter pen and mark out the required
Skills, Qualifications and Experiences. Read it a fifth time to make sure you have got them all
5. Now take the first page of your two page CV…
• NOTE: You don’t need the second page, so chuck it away!
6. Take the first page of your CV, and fold it in half. Tear the page in two…
• NOTE: You don’t need the bottom half of the page, so chuck it away!
7. You should be left with just the top half of your existing CV, and the highlighted job advert
8. Now find and highlight the EXACT same Skills, Qualifications and Experiences on what is left
of your CV…
• Can find them all You are in the top third, you could get an interview
• Find some but not all Could have got an interview pre-recession, now rejected
• Can’t find any of them You will be rejected, DO NOT apply for this job!
