2. Work measurement is the application of
techniques designed to establish the time for
a qualified worker to carry out a specified
job at a defined level of performance.

measurement.
Direct method
a) Time study
b) Work sampling
Indirect method
a) Pre determine motion time data system
b) Synthesis of standard data

7. a) Time study-time study consists of recording times
and rates of work for elements of a specified job
carried out under specified conditions to obtain the
time necessary to carry out a job at a defined level
of performance. It uses a stop watch to measure the
time.
b) Work sampling-As the name suggests, work sampling
involves observing a portion or sample of the work
activity. Based on this statements can be made about
activity.

8. a) Predetermined motion time data system-A
predetermined motion time system is a work
measurement technique where by times established for
basic human motions are used to build up the time for a
job at a defined level of performance.
b) Synthesis of standard data-synthesis data is the name
given to tables and formulae derived from the analysis
of accumulated work measurement data arrange in a
form for suitable standard times ,machine process times
etc.
