Site Operations
Deployment
A key activity undertaken by Eco Line personnel
onsite is deployment of liner materials
There are many different types of materials
required to be deployed, deployment techniques
vary between layers.
These deployment technics can be hazardous,
posing risk to personnel due to use of plant lifting
heavy loads
Some key methods to protect personnel include;
• Personnel being aware of the hazardous around
them during works
• never stand downhill from a suspended load or
work directly underneath a suspended load.
• The deployment foreman is responsible for
communication and direction with the operator
• Refer to the project JHA for more in depth
hazard assessment
Construction Quality Control
• Quality control (QC) is a procedure or set of
procedures intended to ensure that a manufactured
product or performed service adheres to a defined
set of quality criteria or meets the requirements of
the client or customer.
• Every aspect of the job is overseen by a CQC officer,
whose main role is to ensure the onsite quality
control of the project
• Eco Line’s goal is to consistently delivery high quality
and specification projects to the clients expectations
• Quality Control is an important part of every Eco
Line project. A QC Guideline has been developed and
is required to be followed by all personnel at all
times
GCL
• GCL is a geosynthetic clay layer that is
deployed via a full length steel axle lifted
via a spreader beam and excavator.
• GCL is a heavy layer that is hard to
manouver once deployed, it is important
that it is deployed into position as re-
adjustment after deployment is very
difficult
• The specified lap for GCL is 300mm, this is
marked on the rolls and can be seen during
deployment
• No seaming is required on the edge of a roll
between panels. Pasting of overlaps is
required between the end of a roll and a
connection panel
• Dust masks should be used in dusty
enviroments including during the
deployment of GCL. Dust masks are
available onsite, notify your supervisor if
you require a mask.
HDPE / LLDPE
• HDPE is a Plastic layer that is deployed via a
spreader bar connection to two axel “horns”
fitted with ball bearings lifted via an excavator
of other plant. It is typically pulled out by hand.
• HDPE comes in both smooth and textured
surface treatments
• It extremely susceptible to being blown about
by wind and therefore need to be weighted
down using sand bags along all “open” edges
• HDPE requires specialised welding tools to
seam the overlaps. The welding of HDPE is an
important task that takes a large amount of
training to consistently achieve a quality weld
Geocomposite
• Geocomposite is a water drainage layer that is
deployed via a full length steel axle lifted via a
spreader beam and machine, or rolled out along the
ground by hand.
• Geocomposite is a light weight material that is easy
to manouver into postition once its deployed.
• The specified overlap for Geocomposite is between
50mm-100mm or as advised by the CQC Officer
• The Geocomposite is seamed with a cable tie every
meter and then the fabric lap is heat sealed with a
gas torch or as required by the CQC Officer
Geotextile
• Geotextile is a common protect used in
various applications in our project works.
As protection to the HDPE liner or
separation between drainage rock and
waste
• Typically deployed via a full length steel
axle lifted via a spreader beam and
machine, or rolled out along the ground by
hand
• Geotextile is a light weight material that is
easy to manouver into postition once its
deployed but is extremely susceptible to
wind.
• The specified overlap for Geocomposite is
between 150mm-300mm or as advised by
the CQC Officer
• The Geotextile is seamed using a gas torch
or a specialised hot air blower

A QC Guideline has been developed and is required to be followed by all personnel at all times
  • 13. GCL • GCL is a geosynthetic clay layer that is deployed via a full length steel axle lifted via a spreader beam and excavator. • GCL is a heavy layer that is hard to manouver once deployed, it is important that it is deployed into position as re- adjustment after deployment is very difficult • The specified lap for GCL is 300mm, this is marked on the rolls and can be seen during deployment • No seaming is required on the edge of a roll between panels. Pasting of overlaps is required between the end of a roll and a connection panel • Dust masks should be used in dusty enviroments including during the deployment of GCL. Dust masks are available onsite, notify your supervisor if you require a mask.
  • 14. HDPE / LLDPE • HDPE is a Plastic layer that is deployed via a spreader bar connection to two axel “horns” fitted with ball bearings lifted via an excavator of other plant. It is typically pulled out by hand. • HDPE comes in both smooth and textured surface treatments • It extremely susceptible to being blown about by wind and therefore need to be weighted down using sand bags along all “open” edges • HDPE requires specialised welding tools to seam the overlaps. The welding of HDPE is an important task that takes a large amount of training to consistently achieve a quality weld
  • 15. Geocomposite • Geocomposite is a water drainage layer that is deployed via a full length steel axle lifted via a spreader beam and machine, or rolled out along the ground by hand. • Geocomposite is a light weight material that is easy to manouver into postition once its deployed. • The specified overlap for Geocomposite is between 50mm-100mm or as advised by the CQC Officer • The Geocomposite is seamed with a cable tie every meter and then the fabric lap is heat sealed with a gas torch or as required by the CQC Officer
  • 16. Geotextile • Geotextile is a common protect used in various applications in our project works. As protection to the HDPE liner or separation between drainage rock and waste • Typically deployed via a full length steel axle lifted via a spreader beam and machine, or rolled out along the ground by hand • Geotextile is a light weight material that is easy to manouver into postition once its deployed but is extremely susceptible to wind. • The specified overlap for Geocomposite is between 150mm-300mm or as advised by the CQC Officer • The Geotextile is seamed using a gas torch or a specialised hot air blower
