Community Practitioner Talks and Round
Table Discussions

Background and objectives of session
– This year, we have introduced the community practitioner afternoon to
explore and further develop the real-world impact of research.
– We want our impact agenda to respond to the needs of both academics
and community partners
– The round table discussions aim to closely explore specific issues
identified by the speakers, or to identify new issues not addressed
before.
– All participants are all seen in an equal standing. There is no ‘leader’ but
there will be a facilitator to maintain focus and record the discussions
and outcomes. Everyone has an equal voice and can speak freely on the
subject.

Co-Design of a Prostate Cancer Serious Game
What will happen?
• Each speaker will speak for 15 minutes
• The we proceed to the Round Table Discussions
• There may be an opportunity for delegates to move tables if there is space (see your badge for which
table you are on).
• The Speaker will briefly introduce opportunities/issues/challenges related to their topic/presentation
• Everyone will participate in the discussions and Facilitators to make notes to feedback (25 minutes)
• Dissemination of ideas to the room – Facilitators are asked to conclude and summarise the main
points back to audience on agreed strategies (5 minutes each)
• Summary of discussions (5 minutes)

Community practioner session - Introduction by Professor David Brown

  • 1. Community Practitioner Talks and Round Table Discussions School of Science and Technology, Nottingham Trent University NG1 8NS Nottingham, United Kingdom
  • 2. Background and objectives of session – This year, we have introduced the community practitioner afternoon to explore and further develop the real-world impact of research. – We want our impact agenda to respond to the needs of both academics and community partners – The round table discussions aim to closely explore specific issues identified by the speakers, or to identify new issues not addressed before. – All participants are all seen in an equal standing. There is no ‘leader’ but there will be a facilitator to maintain focus and record the discussions and outcomes. Everyone has an equal voice and can speak freely on the subject. Our Speakers – David Stewart, HeadTeacher, Oakfield School and Sports College – Pip Logan, Associate Professor in Community Rehabilitation, University of Nottingham – Anthony Rhys, ICT Coordinator and Teacher, Trinity Fields School /Gesture SEN – Alinda Gillott, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Service, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Michael Craven, Senior Research Fellow, University of Nottingham & NIHR MindTech Healthcare Technology Co-operative – Zulfigar Khan, CEO, Great Health Care for the Community, Birmingham. Co-Design of a Prostate Cancer Serious Game

What will happen? • Each speaker will speak for 15 minutes • The we proceed to the Round Table Discussions • There may be an opportunity for delegates to move tables if there is space (see your badge for which table you are on). • The Speaker will briefly introduce opportunities/issues/challenges related to their topic/presentation • Everyone will participate in the discussions and Facilitators to make notes to feedback (25 minutes) • Dissemination of ideas to the room – Facilitators are asked to conclude and summarise the main points back to audience on agreed strategies (5 minutes each) • Summary of discussions (5 minutes) Community Practitioner Talks and Round Table Discussions
