Communication, Connectedness & Commitment Citi Family Office Armonk, New York November 15-16, 2007 Philanthropic Travel âSomeday after mastering winds, waves, tides and gravity, we shall harness the energies of love, and then for the second time in the history of the world, man will discover fire.â âTeilhard de Chardin David Chamberlain, Exquisite Safaris Philanthropic Travel Worldwide Chellie Kew, QFund.org
3. Citi Family Office is hosting our first Family Insights event geared toward parents and adult children, the theme of which is communication, connectedness and commitment. Our experience teaches us that families who struggle often do so because of communication failures, a lack of connectedness or a commitment that is impoverished or not shared. By improving communication, understanding and emphasizing our connectedness and exploring and fulfilling our commitment to ourselves, our families and our community, we can reinforce a healthy dynamic or make an unhealthy one better. Family Insights will explore these issues in a multi-generational, highly interactive setting, using unusual methodologies such as generational breakouts, professional theater productions, client led panels and optional individual meetings with Citi professional advisors. We hope to provide you with the opportunity to benefit from the experience, knowledge and insight of thought leaders, professionals and your peers.
11. â Visiting the Matare slum outside Nairobi was a powerful experience for our family. What we encountered grabbed our hearts. Living there does not make for an easy life, and it is so much different from what we know. And yet we found our hearts warmed from this unforgettable experience. Franklin opened the community up to us in ways we would never be able to see ourselves. We enjoyed a chance to hear peopleâs stories, to learn about their hopes and dreams, and to enjoy playing sports with local youth. Franklinâs outreach is powerful, and since our visit we now feel like we can help him make a difference through our growing friendship. Our lives will never be the same and we look forward to visiting again.â -Amber Dowd
