“Being a mentor is a
personal privilege as I would
not be where I am today
without the mentors I have
had in my life. A mentor not
only teaches, coaches and
inspires, they are able to
bring out the personal
greatness in the people they
mentor.”

7. Mentors received direct follow up from Students
“Hi David, my name is Enney Hoang and I had the
pleasure of meeting you this past Monday at the
Game Changer Event. I am currently a third year
student in the Hospitality and Tourism Management
Program at Ryerson University with an interest in the
events industry.
I just wanted to send this email to say thank you for
taking time to come out to speak and share your
experiences with us. It was reassuring for me hear
that there are many professionals such as yourself
who’ve decided to change career paths, and that it is
okay to do so.
It was a great opportunity to have met you and other
industry professionals, as I am sure you have helped
many students, including myself that day with your
advice. Once again I would like to say thank you, and I
hope you have a great day! “

8. Game Changer features four key elements
to help students get a feel for the type of
career they might be interested in
pursuing while encouraging lifelong
mentor relationships:
1. Meet the Mentor Lunch: Students will
enjoy a boxed lunch in the company of an
industry professional who reflects their
priority career interests as closely as
possible
2. Keynote Presentations: Four Keynote
presentations by representatives from top
companies such as Google, Tripadvisor,
Facebook and Xbox
3. Career Exploration Marketplace: A
career exploration opportunity where
students will have the chance for one-on-
one face time with 4 additional industry
leaders, matched as closely as possible to
their chosen interests, during 4 assigned
rotations
4. Online GAME Changer Community: An
online space where participants can
maintain and grow connections with their
mentors and other attendees via LinkedIn

9. CHIEL HENDRIKS
Agency Business Development l Google
“I volunteered because I personally
experienced the value of having a mentor in
my own career. I have a mentor that I talk
to on a regular basis, who is a senior
business leader at another company. The
fact that a mentor has the ability to provide
objective advice is something I have found
extremely helpful in benchmarking ideas
and planning my personal career growth. If
I am able to help others develop their
careers by paying this forward, I would be
more than willing to do so. This is why I
chose to volunteer for the Game Changer
event this year.”

10. JO ALLAN
Director of Marketing l Intercontinental
Hotels Group
“I remember how difficult it was
getting my first job out of school
and the marketplace is even more
competitive today with a global
talent pool. I've been fortunate to
have had many amazing mentors
throughout my career and I hope I
can make a difference in
someone's success. I applaud A
Couple of Chicks for embarking on
such a valuable contribution to our
future leaders.”

investing in the growth and
health of our chosen industry.
Mentorship is the commitment

industry to ensure

12. JASON SARRACINI
Vice President and General Manager l Travelzoo
“I wanted to participate in
Game Changer because
there are few opportunities
that students have to
engage with industry
leaders. I think Game
Changer is not just about
jobs, it is about inspiring
students and helping them
understand the realities of
the workplace and the
mindset required to be
happy and successful. I am
very excited to be involved.”
