AM I MATERIALISTIC?

9. 2nd Temptation:
Throw yourself down
for the angels will take
care of you

11. TEMPLE – seat of
Jewish power

12. Christ’s Response:
“You shall not put the
Lord your God to the
test.”

13.  MIRACLES are not
demanded of God as
evidence of His care
for man

14. God’s power is for
genuine concern and
love

15. Do you seek fame?
Do you put
God to the
test by
demanding
signs or
miracles?
Do you live by faith
and not by sight?

16. 3rd Temptation:
All these (kingdoms
of the world) I will
give to you if you will
fall on your knees
and worship me.

17. the third temptation
signifies POWER over
the earth even to the
point of disregarding God

18. Christ’s Response:
“You shall do homage
to the Lord your God;
Him alone shall you
adore and Him alone
shall you serve.”

19. -It expresses Christ’s
faithfulness to His
Father

20. -Christ’s kingdom is
not one of earthly
power and wealth
like those of David
and Solomon

21. -Christ’s kingdom or
the kingdom of God
refers to the reign of
justice, peace, hope,
joy and love

22. -Christ’s kingdom is
eternal

23. Do I have the right understanding of power?
Do I have the
desire to
dominate or to
become
superior over
the others?
Do I believe that leadership
coincides with service?

24. “The victory of Jesus over
Satan, the Tempter,
anticipates His victory at
the Passion, the supreme
act of obedience of His
filial love for the Father.”

particular Sin or
Temptation am
I struggling
against right
now?

26. How do I
overcome my
sinful
tendencies?

27. O my God,
I am heartily sorry for
having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of
heaven,
and the pains of hell;
but most of all because
they offend Thee, my God,
Who are all good and
deserving of all my love.

28. I firmly resolve,
with the help of Thy
grace,
to confess my sins,
to do penance,
and to amend my life.
Amen.

29. Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the
wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly
pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the
Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil
spirits,
who roam throughout the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
