2. Introduction
Bed Making: The technique of preparing different types
of patient's comfortable bed in his/ her suitable position for
a particular condition.
Types of bed making procedures:
Unoccupied bed: used when the patient
is able to get out of bed.
2-Occupied bed: used when the patient
is not allowed out of bed.
3. Purpose
1. To provide clean and comfortable bed for the
patient.
2. To reduce the risk of infection by maintaining a
clean environment.
3. To prevent bed sores by ensuring there are no
wrinkles to cause pressure points.
4. Bed Sores
Bed sores (also known as decubitus ulcers or
Pressure ulcers) : It is an ulceration in the skin that
is caused by prolonged pressure on a bony or
weight bearing part of the body.
Four main factors:
* Pressure
* Shearing forces
* Friction
* Moisture
