Our children’s programs provide a warm, nurturing & well-supervised program for your
child. Your child will be much happier with our trained volunteers than in the worship
service and sermon presentation. Lessons are taught at an age appropriate level utilizing
music, games, drama & multimedia & other methods.

3. New Prayer Requests:
t Pray for Angi Fogerty who has been experiencing severe
shoulder pain;
t Pray for comfort and peace for Melva Russcher as her mom,
Leona Huyser, passed away peacefullly in her sleep on 12/24.
Also pray for her dad, Al Huyser, who is struggling with some
medical issues.
t Pray for Cathie Raby’s best friend’s grandson, Liam, who is 6 months old
and has pneumonia.
t Praise the Lord that Hannah Mokma’s leg surgery went well and she is able
to put a little weight on it now. Pray that no further surgery is necessary.
t Praise the Lord that the “Reach for Life” books for the youth in Bolivia
have finally made it to Santa Cruz. They were previously held up in Chile due
to paperwork.

t For all who have had recent illnesses, surgeries and medical procedures
including Jessica Furbush and Hannah Mokma.

Pioneer Clubs are on Holiday Break and will resume on
January 8 with their Pioneer Clubs Dinner at 6:00 p.m.
Women’s Bible Study will resume on January 16. There
will be no Parkside Running Group on 12/31. BIG will start up again on 1/12.
There will be no Men’s Wednesday morning group this Wednesday, no
Jr. High Youth group on 1/1 and no Sr. High Youth Group tonight.

CIRCLE OF MOMS
Join moms of all ages on Friday, January 3, from 9:15-11:00 a.m. at the church for
“Knitting/Crocheting Day.” If you’re interested in learning how to knit or crochet,
plan to join the group around the fireplace. Bring one skein of yarn (available at
Meijer or Walmart for $3-$4) and knitting needles or a crochet hook (size J is about
$3 at Walmart.) Teachers will be on hand to help if you’re new to knitting or
crocheting. If you already know how to do either, please join us and help
encourage those who are new to yarn art! Child care will be provided.
3 G’S
God’s Gifted Gals will be meeting on Friday, January 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
Bring a craft to work on and join the group for fun, fellowship, and a chance to work
on any projects that you bring. Questions…see Kari DeBoer or Laurie Hoek.
B.R.I.D.G.E. (Building Relationships in Dinner & Games Each Month)
Ladies, plan to attend B.R.I.D.G.E. on Friday, January 17. We’ll be meeting at
5:30 p.m. at James Street Inn then coming back to the church for cards, board games
and snacks. We need to know how many restaurant reservations to make so please
sign up at the Women’s Ministry Counter if you plan to go to dinner with the group.
This is a great way to get to know other church women in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. If you have questions, please contact Ginny Pete or call the church office.
MEN’S BREAKFAST
All men are invited to a special breakfast on Saturday,
January 11, at the church. Steve Hofman from Man in the
Mirror Ministries will be our special guest and Heartland will
be providing free blood pressure readings as we begin “Heart
Health” for 2014 in our Ironman Ministries! The event will
start at 7:30 a.m. and conclude around 9:00. Mark your
calendar and plan to attend for great food, great
fellowship and some great health information!

JR. HIGH YOUTH GROUP WEDNESDAY NIGHT
This Wednesday - There will be no Jr. High Youth Group this
Wednesday due to the holidays.

There is no Youth Group tonight but plan to join us for a “Back to

If you received a new laptop for Christmas and
wonder what you will do with your old one,
consider donating it to the church to be used in
our Christian Education Wing. We could use
a couple workable laptops capable of running
basic programs such as Word and Power Point.
We don’t require a lot of RAM memory as it
will not be used for games. Thanks!

6. Starting next Sunday, January 5, a new
Ladies Sunday School Class will begin!
NEW: “Grace” - DVD study with Max Lucado
Grace. We talk as though we understand the term. The bank gives us a grace
period. We say grace before dinner. But do we really understand it? Have we
settled for wimpy grace? It politely occupies a phrase in a hymn, fits nicely on a
church sign. never causes trouble or demands a response. When asked, “Do you
believe in grace?” who could say no?
Max Lucado asks a deeper question ... Have you been changed by grace? Shaped
by grace? Strengthened by grace? Emboldened by grace? Softened by grace?
Snatched by the nape of your neck and shaken to your senses by grace? Grace is
the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off. Let’s
make certain grace gets you.
There are 10 participant guides available for $5 and 10 of Max’s bestselling book
“Grace” available for $10. These are not required for being part of this 7 session
mixed adult class but will add to your growth as you experience “Grace!”
Continued: The Gospel of John
This mixed adult class continues the Bible exposition of the Gospel of John and
will include class discussions led by various Parkside teachers as we seek to
grow in our faith and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, revealed in
Scripture so that we may have life in His name.

Jesus often showed women acceptance, compassion, and
understanding. In each lesson of this insightful study of Luke,
we will focus on a conversation between Jesus and a woman,
showing how he helped free them of their negative feelings and
destructive behaviors---and encouraged them to embrace healthy
attitudes and positive actions. You will have your own encounter
with Jesus and learn how truly valuable you are to him.
A group member will work on a weekly lesson at home from
“Luke: Finding Truth and Healing in Jesus' Words to Women”
study book by Sue Edwards, and will participate in a group
discussion during the class. A lesson/teaching will be also
provided by various facilitators/teachers of our church during the
class. The study starts on Sunday, January 5 and ends on March 16.
Please sign up by 12/22 to secure a study book for the Jan. 5th
introduction class. The cost of the study book is $6.00.
