2. Introduction This PowerPoint presentation is a review of Street Fighter IV based off a review by Edge Magazine. I will be critically analyzing the game and also Edge’s review. “...stuck to a clear vision of how to take the series forward...” - Edge Magazine
3. Overview Published and developed by CAPCOM. First numbered Street Fighter game since 1999. Has a hardcore fan following with many tournaments based around it where competitors can win big money. Alot of hype around the release.
4.
5. Visuals 3D models with polygons. Non-photorealistic rendering gives the game a ‘hand drawn’ look. Colourful, crazy, over the top. Ink splatters and calligraphic strokes. 60 FPS (important for a fighting game) “Visually, Street Fighter IV is the pinnacle of videogame reimagining's.” - Edge Magazine
6. Gameplay Although the models and backgrounds are rendered in 3D the gameplay remains on a 2D plane like previous titles. The camera moves in 3D at certain times during fights, for dramatic effect. Six button control scheme. There are 19 characters all with different moves and different strengths and weaknesses. Build up combo bars for better abilities. “It’s when you get your hands on the joystick, however, that it becomes clear just how special SFIV is.” - Edge Magazine
8. Personal Opinion Very fun game but might get old fast once I’ve tried all the characters and maps. Games without stories and lots of things to unlock do get boring to me after a while, would be really fun to play with friends though.
9. Conclusion Game Very well made fighting game, one of the best around. Great if you are a competitive person or you are looking for a game to play with friends. Probably not the best game for people who like in-depth story modes with set-pieces.
10. Conclusion Average Critic Score (metacritic.com): 9.4/10 My Score: 8.5/10 Edge Magazines Score: 9/10
11. Conclusion Edge’s Review Very in depth and useful to fighting game fans. Newcomers may be lost and lose interest.
