Calorimeter is a device used to measure
the amount of calor that is involved in a
change or a chemical reaction. (Wikipedia,
2014)
Basic Theory
The amount of heat absorbed or released by a
substance magnitude
1. directly proportional to the mass of substance
2. directly proportional to the temperature
changes
3. depends on the type of substance

ΔQ = heat absorbed
or released
m = mass of
subtance
c = specific heat
ΔT = temperatur (C)

1. calorimeter complete with a stirrer, and a protective
vessel
2. materials will be determined calorific kind
3. technical sheet
4. small measuring cup
5. various types of metals to be determined calorific kind
6. Heater
7. steam generators

The greater the mass amount of hot water and
cold water are used, the greater the heat
capacity of the calorimeter, but the temperature
at the end stays the same

Incompatibility with the experiment results of
the data table is caused by several things
1. Errors in the practicum
2. Less precise calculation
3. Slipshod
4. Performance tools that are not maximal

  • 3. Calorimeter is a device used to measure the amount of calor that is involved in a change or a chemical reaction. (Wikipedia, 2014) Basic Theory
  • 4. The amount of heat absorbed or released by a substance magnitude 1. directly proportional to the mass of substance 2. directly proportional to the temperature changes 3. depends on the type of substance Basic Theory
  • 5. Basic Theory Can be expressed mathematically in the form of equation ΔQ = m . C . ΔT With, ΔQ = heat absorbed or released m = mass of subtance c = specific heat ΔT = temperatur (C) or (K)
  • 6. Tools and materials 1. calorimeter complete with a stirrer, and a protective vessel 2. materials will be determined calorific kind 3. technical sheet 4. small measuring cup 5. various types of metals to be determined calorific kind 6. Heater 7. steam generators

Steps the room temperature & the outside air pressure were measured water was heated until boiling Determine the heat capacity of kalorimeter temperature was recorded water was refrigerated Temperature was recorded hot and cold water was mixed in the calorimeter (1:3) Temperature was recorded
