Introducing COLLECTIONS TRUST We are a UK-based organisation responsible for supporting museums, archives and libraries to deliver richer, more sustainable experiencesfor users through professional Collections Management. Our work is driven by Article 27 of the Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits” We are 20 people, based mainly in London. Funded by the UK Government, the European Commission and commercial income.
3. The role of STANDARDS Standards can make a positive contribution to the economic, environmental and strategic sustainability of your museum. The key is to focus on standards, not standardisation– to enable people to develop professional practices that are proportionate to their users, Collections and financial circumstances. The new UK STANDARDS ACCREDITATION BSI PAS 197 BSI PAS 198 SPECTRUM 4.0 Museum Accreditation in the UK covers 2,500 museums and ensures a basic level of compliance with minimum standards Collections Trust/ British Standards Code of Practice defining strategic Collections Management in museums, archives and libraries New Collections Trust/ British Standards Code of Practice for sustainable Environmental Management in museums, archives and libraries Promoting efficient, accountable Collections and information management through improved management processes
