Satan was originally a perfect being named Lucifer but became corrupt and challenged God's authority. This led to a war in heaven where Satan and his angels were defeated and cast to earth. Satan's goal is to deceive humanity and cause them to distrust and disobey God through suffering, temptation, and using false religious teachers as agents. However, we can resist Satan's influence by submitting to God, relying on his spiritual armor through faith, truth, and salvation, and sharing our testimony of God's power.

Who will ever forget September 11, 2001. I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news.
The twin towers, symbol of New York City ------
Were struck by the worst terrorist attack America has ever experienced.
In a matter of a few hours the magnificent structures burned
And then collapsed to the ground.
The devastation to property and life was overwhelming. Property damage was in the billions of dollars
In spite of valiant rescue efforts by countless volunteers
And hundreds of police and fire personnel
Almost 3,000 people lost their lives.
The attacks on the Pentagon and New York City have launched America
into a world wide fight against terrorists.
On March 19, 2003, the United States military initiated Operation Freedom.
A campaign to overthrow Saddam Hussein and free the Iraqi people
An intense aerial assault was launched on Baghdad and other key Iraqi positions
The Navy and Air Force attacks were joined by ground troops from the Army and Marines.
Saddam Hussein was overthrown and Iraq was freed from his oppressive rule.
But there was a cost.
1,106 United States and Coalition casualties
With all the war / deaths / tragedies in the world ….
Many people are feeling like nobody cares
Recently in a survey regarding God, people were asked,
If you could ask God one question, what would that question be?
What about you?
If you could ask God one question,
what question would you choose?
The question that most people choose is, “If God is really so powerful, and cares about us so much,
Why is there so much sickness, suffering and death in the world?”
Many people blame God for all the bad things that happen to them.
Have you ever heard someone say, “Why has God done this to me?”
Let’s look at what the Bible has to say about the great battle that is going on
between the forces of good and evil.
You may ask, “If God does not bring all of this trouble and grief into the world, who is really responsible for all the tragedies we see every day?
The Bible puts the finger on the guilty party!
Jesus told a story about a farmer who planted good seed in his field
But when the plants came up, there were noxious weeds in the field
The disciples asked the question that we have wondered about.
“Lord, if the farmer planted good seed, where did the weeds come from?”
(In other words, “If God is so good, why are bad things happening?)

You see, while God is loving and kind to everyone, there is another power at work in this world bringing disaster, tragedy, death and sickness into the lives of God’s children
Jesus said: “The enemy who is responsible for evil is the devil.”
God did not intend for man to have a knowledge of evil. He told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree.
Satan has caused man to be so fascinated with evil
He even paints God as evil
Studies have shown that our concept of God
Is heavily influenced by our relationship with our earthly father. If your earthly father was ……
1. Mean and cruel
2. Absent, neglectful
3. Strict, demanding
Kind, generous, loving
….. Chances are your concept of God is very similar.
Tonight we’re going to learn more about
The struggle between good and evil
The controversy between Christ and Satan over the soul of man
Our subject tonight is: A World At War: Who Will Survive?

God created Lucifer to be a special angel, a “covering cherub.” Everything God created was “very good,” including Lucifer. He was “perfect from the day he was created.” (Gen. 1:31 / Ezekiel 28:15)

Lions prey on the young, the weak, or the ones who are separated from the herd. Satan, like a lion, preys on new Christians, people who are weak in faith, or those who are straying from the body of believers. We need to protect the young (new Christians), strengthen the weak, and encourage those who are straying.

The story of Job is one example of how Satan causes suffering. One day the sons of God came to meet with Him. The Bible says in Job 1:6 that Satan came to the meeting also. God asked Satan, “where did you come from?” Satan answered, “from going to and fro on the earth.” Then God asked Satan another question. (go to next slide)

Satan is subtle in his approach to the Christian world. He appears to be God’s representative, as he did to Christ in the wilderness (Luke chapter 4),
and he uses men who are in the position of Christian ministers to spread his falsehoods.
Satan came in the form of an angel. How did Christ know Satan was false? Satan misquoted scripture. He used partial quotations and took them out of context. Jesus knew the scriptures, so He knew Satan was an imposter.

Satan’s ultimate purpose is to cause our death: not just physical death on this earth, but eternal death. He wants to separate us from God forever. He accuses us as sinners before God’s throne. He knows that “the wages of sin is death.”
But we are assured that “the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm. When the storms of life come upon us, and all of us will experience them, we can rise above them by setting our mind and our heart toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God’s power to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that brings sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm. Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them. The Bible says, (fly in Bible verse and read on screen)
