Introduction: National integration means the sense of the basic oneness of the nation it is
the sense of identify and solidarity among all citizens of the nations âNational integration is the
community force that binds the citizens of a country into a unified entity.
National integration has got two aspects, political unity and emotional unity with
the achievement of independence and with the declaration of India as a republic we have
achieved political unity. Emotional integration is to be reflected in the attitude of the people
belonging to different areas and groups interact among themselves.
FACTORS HAMPERING
INTERGRATION
1. LINGUISM
Normally language is a tool for building up national integration unfortunately our
language problems is a major source of disintegration and disunity. Linguistic antagonism started
when the constitution of the official language this created a language problem in India.
2. REGIONALISM
The division of the country into different states and union territories has caused a
great change in the teaching of the Indian people. People of one region not only alone their
region with sole devotions but also look down up on people of other regions as their

India is a land of many religions religion is said to be one of the factor hampering
integration India became divided because of the religions fanatics of a new socialism implies
religions impartiality and toleration.
4. CASTISM
Indian society is divided into different castes even within the same religion the
outcastes were never treated as human beings. Our national leaders and social reformers have
been trying to alleviate the social cancer. National unity is impossible as long as there is this
feeling among citizens.

In India we have so many political parties among these there are national parties

6. SOCIO ECONOMIC INEQUALITIES
The structure of Indian society is not equalization. It is marked by socio economic
inequalities. Economic inequality is caused mainly by the poverty of masses. The distribution of
national wealth is so uneven that a handful of persons enjoy increases while a large mass cannot
make both ends meet. The social inequality in mainly caused by the caste system.
UNIFYING FORCES
In spite of the factors hampering integration there are a large number of factors which
unity as into the Indian nation. Some of these factors is given below.
1. TORRITORIAL COMPACTNESS
Geographically India is separated from other parts of Asia by the Himalayan on
the north and west oceans on the other 3 sides .This has given the idea that India is
geographically one maintain unique features of the own.
2. CIVILIZATION AND CULTURE
If has been recognized from very early times that Indian civilization and culture is
characterized by unity in diversity. Indian history can play a pivotal role in beginning about
national integration.
3. FEELINGS TO WARDS THE SCAREDNESS OF THE MOTHER LAND
Indian feel proved of the of their motherland during the past the Indian people
worshiped India by visiting the famous centers of pilgrimage linguistic barriers and difference
in customs and usage, did not seen to frighten these pilgrims.

If was a wise decision taken by our constitution frames. To pledge ourselves to
the ideal of a secular state. Where the primary objective is to regard where the primary objective
is to safeguard and foster human values. A secular state will not be partial to any religion at the
same time it will not be antireligious.
5. CRUSADE AGANIST INEQUALITIES
Faithfull and sincere implication of the 5 year plan are sure to remove the
back wardens, illiteracy, ignorance and economic and social disparities and in-equalities which
have lead to disruption spread of education that necessitates mobility of the people etc. Also is a
unifying force.

The integration of the Indian people is a challenge that cannot be ignored.
Charity and compassion must be practiced if they are not to remain words and empty phrases.
Integration touch all point of national life and depends in the final analysis on young people in
school and colleges.
