The scale of the modern-day oil and gas industry in Scotland tells
you something of its prominence in the global energy arena.
More than 2,000 companies are in the supply chain, covering every
industry specialism and niche service. Over 224,000 people are
employed across the spectrum of professions, disciplines and
support services. Scotland has a history of more than 40 years of
operations in one of the most challenging offshore environments
in the world.
But the statistics only tell a little of the story. Behind the figures lies
a backdrop of vision, experience, innovation and pioneering work
that has made Scotland a global player.
Scottish Development International (SDI) is a government
organisation which helps overseas businesses tap into Scotland’s
key strengths in knowledge, high level skills, technology and
innovation. SDI also works to help Scottish companies do more
business overseas and to promote Scotland as an attractive place
to live and work. It is jointly operated by the Scottish Government
and its enterprise agencies. Our work is guided by the Scottish
Government’s Strategy for Economic Development in Scotland.

Interventek is a leading subsea engineering business, providing
technically advanced well intervention solutions to the global
upstream oil and gas market.
With a focus on innovative problem solving, Interventek has
developed a revolutionary shear and seal safety valve which
outperforms its rivals and is able to meet multiple industry
challenges. The new compact and lightweight ‘Revolution Valve’
delivers outstanding performance and cost reduction across a
range of intervention operations.
The technology uses separate cutting and sealing components so
that the seal is never compromised. Resilient seals avoid the use of
vulnerable elastomer components for fluid containment, enabling
use in HPHT and large bore applications. External rotary actuators
provide superior cutting force for the very strongest intervention
media. The design separates the hydraulics from the wellbore,
eliminates binding, provides easy access to components and
enables the use of preloaded flanged connections which increase
structural integrity and are more suitable for API 17G qualification.

Spartan Solutions provides PHALANX, the Apps for Operations
software solution.
PHALANX is an integrated suite of mobile apps designed for
organizations that manage equipment, people and tasks and
eliminates the human error, time delay and cost of manual,
paper-based processes.
PHALANX eliminates billing and payment delays caused by
data errors by ensuring all information is electronic, validated
and accurate prior to input to ERP systems. Days Sales Outstanding
(DSO) is reduced typically by a third, so cash flow is significantly
improved.
PHALANX runs on Android and iOS smartphones plus industrial
handheld devices, with a range of barcode and Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) enabled Apps. These include Field Service,
Job Ticketing, eTimesheet, Equipment Delivery, Returns,
Inspection, Repair, Test, Goods Receipt and Analytics, so that
management can view operations in real-time.
PHALANX is integrated to a wide range of back-end systems
including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and also works
stand-alone.
