In my talk in Berlin on 18th Jan 2017, I took the audience on a tour into the future on how emerging technologies could play a greater role in aging well, and also examined the social, cultural and political impact from adopting these technologies.
11. “I am not here to be
champion,” he said.
“I am here to prove
that at 105 years old,
you can still ride a bike.”
Robert Marchand broke the hour long distance record at the
age of 105!
12. Will we see a big rise in
women having their 1st
baby at 60, 70 or even
80?
17. I did demo with these two virtual assistants
Google Home (sold in US only) Amazon Echo (sold in US, UK & Germany)
I tried to use this skill in the demo
28. Conclusion
• Not every problem in aging can be solved by ‘lines of code’
• Do older people want to be tracked 24/7?
• Technology is one small piece. Policy, people & process need to move
• Ask (don’t assume) what matters the most to the (older) patients
• Design WITH, not FOR
• Look for the ‘boring’ problems that others don’t want to solve
• Understand where the big problems are (fall prevention)
• Inter-generational cross sector collaboration required
