2. TRACK AND LEARN
I’m a type 1 diabetic. My body no longer produces the insulin hormone, rather I must
inject it with an external device. If I don’t get insulin, I’ll be in a coma in 24 hours, dead
in 48. If I inject too much insulin, I may be dead in a few moments.
The hormone system of a human body is really complicated, individual, and constantly
changing as our lives change. To know how much insulin is required in any situation, I
must measure my blood glucose up to 10 times per day, estimate the amount of
carbohydrates in everything I eat and drink, monitor my physical activity, changes in
weight, and other parameters. I must do this constantly, each day, and learn from the
data I gather, in order to treat myself better.

3. Healthcare market is changing!
International Diabetes Foundation: Diabetes Atlas, 2014
“Effective management of
diabetes requires a
partnership between the
person with diabetes and
health professionals”Diabetes causes 11 % of the total healthcare
expenditures on adults globally.
“Individuals must play a role in taking care of their own health, and therefore
citizens’ and patients’ participation and empowerment need to be regarded as
core values in all health-related work at the EC level.”
– Commission of the European Communities. “Together for Health: A Strategic Approach for the EU 2008-2013.” October 23, 2007.
Research2Guidance: Diabetes App Market Report 2014
Diabetes treatment is highly data driven, but
only 1.2 % of people with both diabetes and a
capable device use any app for that.
Main reason: no integration with wellness
trackers & medical devices.
Expected CAGR 2013-1018: 55%

Sensotrend product solution
To become empowered patients, people
with diabetes need to get their own
voices heard. Personalized treatment
plans have been formulated in healthcare
organizations recently, and are waiting to
be deployed.
We implement
the Selfcare Form
for people with
diabetes as a web
application, and
store it to a
Personal Health
Record platform.
People with diabetes dislike having to enter
their measurement results to a logbook
manually. We solve this problem allowing
them to use the wellness trackers and
medical devices that best suit their
individual life styles and make tracking
easier, more fun, or
even automatic.
We visualize the
information in a
clear way, and also
facilitate sharing it
with peers and
healthcare
professionals.
