2. WHY WE/PEOPLE FIND IT
CHALLENGING
•Uncertain about the technology
•Fear of what people will think
•Cybersecurity
•Privacy
•Nothing worth sharing
•Not an „expert‟
•What‟s missing?
3. WHAT DO WE DO NOW – AND WHAT‟S
THE NEXT STEP?
Cognitive challenge – “help
me reflect, connect and
develop my thinking or apply
ideas”
Further support; next steps;
Extend thinking; support knowledge
development
Facilitator presence –
“share your view,
help me with a
direction”
Share information, guidance, resources
Context; link to wider ideas
Social
presence –
“make me
feel
comfortable”
Welcome; encouragement

6. SCENARIOS –
CO-CONSTRUCTING A RESPONSE
Example 1:
“Kia ora ….. As a staff we have recently looked at the literacy performance of
all our learners and are increasingly concerned about how our Māori and
Pasifika students are performing. But, having identified the problem, we
have no idea where to go next. Can anyone help or share how they have
tackled the next steps? …”
Example 2:
“I am on an e-learning strategy team in Nelson and we are wanting to assist
the school into the e-learning future. Would love to understand from why
they resisted change and what helped them your colleagues who may
have resisted change at first, begin to embrace the digital era? We want to
present the strategy into the school in a way which all teachers will feel
excited about the vision. Thanks.”

us?

challenge – and how
might we tackle
