This document outlines the agenda for the CIRCLE-2 MOUNTain Final Meeting on September 26-27, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain. Day 1 will cover topics like CIRCLE-2 projects, knowledge exchange in mountain areas, and adaptation efforts in the Pyrenees and Carpathians. Working groups will discuss improving knowledge sharing and cooperation in mountain regions. Day 2 will cover climate change in the Himalayas and integrating stakeholder needs with scientific knowledge through effective science-practice interactions. The CIRCLE-2 MOUNTain sub-network funded research projects on climate change impacts and adaptation in European mountain areas.

6. 6
I. Coordinate European CCIVA research funding at the
transnational scale
II. Facilitate transfer of research outcomes
III. Share experiences and lessons learnt on
• CCIVA research funding/management
• Development of national/regional Adaptation practices
IV. Encourage international cooperation with non-
European countries
:the VISION
7. 7
1. Establish a research funding network that fosters
responses to policy-relevant CCIVA questions
2. Facilitate cooperation across European CCIVA research
programmes and institutions
3. Promote the alignment of national and regional CCIVA
agendas under common strategic research and policy areas
– e.g. support of NAS via joint research
4. Fund joint initiatives and joint calls on CCIVA research
5. Share knowledge in support to the EC & our members
:the OBJECTIVES
8. CIRCLE-2 MOUNTain
Mountain research was seen as an important topic for several
European countries and their research programmes
Austria developed this group of interested funders further top get to
the call in 2009
increase knowledge of options, premises and barriers for climate
change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation (CCIVA)
including the relationship between adaptation and mitigation in
mountain areas.
Special emphasis has to be laid on the involvement of decision
makers / developers and relevant stakeholders.
