This document provides an overview of chapter 8 of the book presented by Karan, Austin, and Max. It introduces the characters of Little Willie Wiggans and Cassie's mother. The main themes are racism and the land. The key event was Cassie's mother getting fired from her job, which was an act of racism. This impacted the family's finances as they struggled to pay the mortgage. The document also includes vocabulary words, examples of dialect and similes/metaphors from the chapter, and instances of foreshadowing.
5. Main Events
The main event of the chapter was when the
mama got fired. This is where the theme of
racism came because the white people
framed the mama because she was black and
because she messed around with school
property (she glued the books back
together.) Also, the land is another theme
because the mama had lost her job and
since she lost her job, she could not get
paid. This added to the Logan’s problem of
not getting enough money to pay of the
mortgage of the land.
