ESOP is a Corporate Association that represents Portuguese companies
dedicated to software development and services provision, based on Open
Source solutions.
7. OUR GOALS
• to promote Open Source software & solutions;
• to promote interoperability & platform independence;
• to promote synergies within associates;
• to develop the Open Source ecosystem in Portugal.

• Contribution to the ‘Open Standards Law’ and the RNID –
National Regulation for Open Standards adoption;
• Contribution the National plan for ICT rationalization in the public
sector;
• Contribution to the Directive on Copyright and transposition;
• Contribution to Net neutrality actions;
• Workshops to promote Open Source solutions in Public Sector.

9. Aims to award recognition to entities that stood out by the usage
and adoption of Open Source technologies or that have
contributed to their disclosure and promotion.

TCO – Total Cost of Ownership:
For a period of 4 years (period adopted as reference):
• Acquisition and licensing - licensing expenses, including software upgrades and
fixes;
• Maintenance - expenses with corrective and evolutive maintenance and software
support;
• Adaptation/evolution - development expenses to fulfillment technical and
functional requirements;
• Migration - expenses for specialized work, consulting and vocational training
resulting of moving from one software product to another;
• Exit/Handover - expenses from replacement of the solution or service provider.
