The document provides an interim review of a wallpaper design project. The designer has been asked to combine two contrasting concepts - the atmosphere of Trinity Buoy Wharf and the Royal Naval College - in a wallpaper design that reflects the company. Their first idea incorporates Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" to represent the water surroundings, while their second idea features cherubs in a Baroque style combined with modern buildings. Experiments are being conducted to adapt the designs to the company's style.
2. My Brief
I have been asked to design a
wallpaper design for the design
company roll out, I have been asked
to design a wallpaper that bring two
contrasting concepts together, for
one wall that would fit in with the
rest of the company's designs and
reflect what the company represent.
This is a brief that will be a
challenge because I will have
to capture the atmosphere of
trinity buoy wharf or royal
navel college and combine
them with a opposite concept
and still representing the
company.
3. My Inspiration.
So thinking about the brief I
brainstormed things within
these two areas, that
contrasted and were complete
opposites.
I thought the baroque style stood
out as it is such an influential
style of artwork and is different
as the building in royal navel
college and trinity buoy wharf,
are rather simplistic compared to
the detailed realistic style of
baroque which features inside
the museum in royal navel
college. I can explore and
experiment when designing a
possible wallpaper.
4. Idea one .
So as I was doing
my research I came
across and artist
called Botticeli and
he uses the same
style as baroque
even though he's a
bit before the time
period by I really
like the lines and
colour he uses in
his work and this
painting of “the
birth of Venus”
stuck out to me
and I wanted to
use it in one of my
ideas.
So as Venus is associated with water I
thought it would be relevant to use as the
trinity buoy wharf and royal navel college
are all surrounded by water. And started
to do some pencil drawings of how I could
incorporate these two things.
5. Experiments.
So I started to experiment with how I could use the
rollout wallpaper company as inspiration and started
to see how I could adapt this to make it fit in with the
company's look.
6. Idea two.
My second idea is to do with the cherubs that feature
quote a lot with the baroque theme and I thought I
could use these and incorporate the old traditional
cherubs with the new modern day buildings .
