1 The person/ company who comes to you with a
design request. The company commissioning
you to complete the project.
2 The issue the client has, something that you can
solve as the designer. The reason the client
commissioned you.
3 Short description of what the client wants out
of the project. The initial statement that
indicates what is being designed.
4 Researching into the context and target
audience of the brief is important before
completing the project. Looking at existing
examples that solve the same problem.
5 Identifying the precise requirements for the
project, talked through with the client including
money, equipment and skills needed.
6 Coming up with a diverse range of possible
solutions/ designs that meet the brief in various
different ways. You need to be diverse and
experimental.
7 Evaluating each idea and deciding on which
one will be the most successful and could be
developed further in meeting the requirements
of the client, brief and target audience.
8 Brining all ideas together to see what has been
done and if any ideas could be combined to
create a new one.
9 Developing a prototype based on all your ideas
and information you have collected. Building
trials and maquettes.
10 Developing and improving the prototype design
from what succeeded and what failed in the first
prototype.
11 Finding a final design and prototype what has
been successful and planning to make it.
12 An objective and subject review of my product
and it’s suitability for purpose. An honest review
of my project management and performance.
