2. Our Inadequacy
02/03/19
God does not love us because we love Him. In fact, our love is filled with human
error, which makes our love flawed. However, God’s love is perfect.
Real love started with God, and it will end with God. God is the source of all love,
the force of real love, and the course of any love.
There is a rich comparison and contrast. John compares God’s love to our love.
God’s love is real, our love is relative.
His love is complete, and our love is partial.
His love is eternal, and our love is temporal.
His love is pure, and our love is tainted.
His love continues when our love has stopped.
His love succeeds where our love fails.
His love is sufficient, and our love at best is inadequate.
3. God’s Divine Ability
02/03/19
God is an able God. He is able to create something
from nothing.
He is able to save, heal, deliver, strengthen, and
restore.
God has the divine capacity and ability to love the
unlovable.
4. God’s Sufficiency
Imagine for a moment that you are living on death row awaiting
your day to die.
All of a sudden, the judge appears at your cell and says, “You are
free to go!”
As you walk out with the judge, you notice another man walking
into your cell. You then ask the judge, “Who is that guy?”
To which the judge replies, “He is the man that is going to take
your place. And he is not just any man. That man is my son!”
Jesus Christ was our all-sufficient substitute that fateful day at the
cross.
