WEDDING
RINGS
At Larsen Jewellery we understand that many
men aren’t used to wearing jewellery so we
strive to make the decision process easy and
enjoyable for you. Choose your ideal width,
profile and metal with the guidance of your
jeweller and ask us for a complimentary ‘comfort

19. THE
WEDDING
RING
EXPERIENCE
Larsen Jewellery is the only place in Australia that offers the ‘Wedding
Ring Experience’, where you can share the unique and romantic
experience of making each other’s wedding rings under the guidance of
your own personal jeweller. Designing and making a ring for each other
as an everlasting token of love is possibly the most romantic gesture one
can make!
The Wedding Ring Experience only takes around four hours and no
experience or creative skills are required. The process has been set up so
that anyone can do it and we guarantee a perfect end result. Almost any
design is possible, from classic wedding bands to unique wedding ring
designs involving diamonds, engraving or a mix of metals. After you’ve
finished making the rings, your jeweller will add any design features,
such as diamonds or engraving. We will also make sure your wedding
ring matches perfectly with your engagement ring, even if it has an
unusual shape and needs to be fitted.
The ring-making process involves traditional handcrafting techniques of
milling, bending, soldering and the finishing touches of filing, buffing
and polishing. An expert jeweller will be by your side for the duration of
the ring-making process, offering guidance and ensuring that your rings
are absolutely perfect.
During the experience we serve a light lunch and beverages, and on
completion a glass of champagne to celebrate! Also included are photos
of your experience and a lifetime service of annual cleaning and polishing
to keep your rings in sparkling condition.

20. OTHER
CUSTOM
MADE
JEWELLERY
Larsen Jewellery is known for its individually designed and handcrafted fine jewellery.
Whether you are looking for a gift for yourself or a present for that special someone, you
are sure to find what you are looking for at Larsen Jewellery. We can bring your vision to
reality, using your choice of metal, including white gold, yellow gold or platinum, and with
your choice of diamonds or coloured gemstones. As a testament to our high quality of
workmanship, all our custom made jewellery comes with a lifetime guarantee.
20
22. METAL
OPTIONS
Platinum
Platinum is a white metal, but unlike gold
it is used in jewellery in almost its pure
form (approximately 95% pure). Platinum is
extremely long wearing and very white, so
it does not need to be rhodium plated like
white gold, but because it tends to scratch
more easily, it does require annual polishing
(which is included with all our custom made
jewellery free of charge). It is also a very
dense and heavy metal, so a platinum ring
will feel heavier than a white gold ring.
Yellow Gold
Pure gold, also known as 24 carat (or 24ct),
is generally regarded as too soft to use for
jewellery making and is therefore alloyed
with other metals to make it harder. The
most common alloy is 18ct, which is made
by alloying 75% pure gold with 25% other
metals such as copper, zinc and silver,
whereas 9ct contains 37.5% pure gold, with a
higher proportion of other metals. The higher
the percentage of pure gold, the more yellow
the colour. This is one of the reasons why
18ct is more popular for jewellery such as
engagement and wedding rings.
White Gold
White gold in 18ct is made by alloying 75%
pure gold with 25% white metals such as
silver and palladium, which give it a natural
greyish colour. As with yellow gold, white
gold can also be used in 9ct, but 18ct is
generally preferred for engagement and
wedding rings. White gold jewellery is
typically rhodium plated to make it look
whiter and brighter. Rhodium is a metal that
is similar to platinum, being very white and
hard, but it does wear away eventually. To
keep white gold looking its best, it should be
rhodium plated every 12-18 months, which
we offer as a complimentary service for all
our custom made jewellery.
Rose Gold
Rose gold, also known as pink gold or red
gold, is an alloy consisting of gold and
copper which is widely used for its reddish
colour. The higher the copper content, the
stronger the red colour. The most common
alloy for rose gold is 18ct, which contains
75% pure gold and 25% copper.

23. LOOSE DIAMONDS
& COLOURED
GEMSTONES
Larsen Jewellery sells loose diamonds and
coloured gemstones at competitive workshop
prices. Purchasing a diamond is an exciting
experience, and with the right information it is also
straightforward and simple. During a personalised
diamond appointment, our expert jewellers can
show you a range of diamonds to choose from and
answer any questions you may have.
Diamonds and coloured gemstones come in a
wide range of shapes. Brilliant cut (round) and
Princess cut (square) are very popular, but there
are many other beautiful shapes. Radiant, Emerald,
Asscher, Marquise, Oval, Pear and Cushion are
just some of the many other shapes available.
Our jewellers are also passionate about coloured
gemstones, including sapphire, ruby, emerald,
aquamarine, tanzanite and many more, and look
forward to guiding you through your selection.
Titanium
Titanium is greyish-silver in colour and
is one of the hardest natural metal in the
world. It is more scratch resistant than other
metals and is very lightweight. Titanium is
also 100% hypo-allergenic, which means
that it will not react to the skin. Titanium
cannot be soldered, however, which means
that titanium rings cannot be resized. Also,
titanium rings cannot be handmade (they
are machine made), which limits the design
possibilities.
Mokume Gane
Mokume-Gane is an ancient Japanese
technique, whereby different coloured metals
are layered to achieve distinctive patterns.
Translating as ‘wood-grain metal’, the name
was borrowed from one type of pattern
created in the forging of swords. It comes in
a number or different colour combinations.
As the metal is worked, the different layers
come to the surface, creating a wood grain
effect. Every ring is unique as the patterns
are random.

24. Our loose diamonds are all independently certified by leading laboratories,
including GIA (Gemological Institute of America), and we guarantee that all our
diamonds are conflict-free. The first thing to do when looking to purchase a
diamond is to learn about the four C’s - Carat, Colour, Clarity and Cut - which
determine a diamond’s quality and hence value.
Carat - Carat is a term that refers to the weight of a diamond, although people
usually associate it with size. The carat weight is often the factor that people
will vary to find a diamond within their budget.
Colour - Colour refers to the degree to which a diamond appears colourless.
Diamonds are graded on a colour scale which ranges from D (colourless) to Z
(strong yellow). Whilst colourless diamonds graded D, E or F are treasured for
their rarity, the near colourless grade G is also considered ‘white’ but is more
affordable.
Clarity - Clarity refers to the presence (or absence) of tiny impurities or
blemishes within or on the surface of a diamond, and is graded under 10x
magnification. The clarity grades in declining order are FL (flawless), VVS (very
very slightly included), VS (very slightly included), SI (slightly included) and I
(included). A diamond does not have to be flawless to be stunning. Diamonds
with VVS, VS and SI clarity grades represent excellent choices for both value
and appearance as inclusions are not visible to the naked eye.
Cut - The cut of a diamond determines its brilliance and refers to its
proportions, symmetry and finish. Put simply, the better it has been cut, the
more it will sparkle. Whilst a diamond’s colour and clarity are dictated by
nature, the cut is determined by the human hand and is in our opinion the most
important of the 4 C’s.
