John 1:14 Christ became flesh for us, He became poor for us, he became obedient to the point of death for us, He became sin for us, He became the author of eternal salvation for us, He became the firstfruits of those who had died for us, He became the chief cornerstone for us, He became wisdom from God for us. He became all of these things for us so that we might become a new creation for Him.

cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I
said, 'He who comes after me is preferred
before me, for He was before me.' " (16)
And of His fullness we have all received,
and grace for grace. (17) For the law was
given through Moses, but grace and truth
came through Jesus Christ.

nature. In the union of the two is the one
unique personality.
5. I. HE BECAME FLESH
C. Hebrews 2:17-18 Therefore, in all things He had
to be made like His brethren, that He might be a
merciful and faithful High Priest in things
pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the
sins of the people. 18 For in that He Himself has
suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those
who are tempted.
D. Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the
time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of
a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those

which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who,
being in the form of God, did not
consider it robbery to be equal with God,
7 but made Himself of no reputation,
taking the form of a bondservant, and
coming in the likeness of men. 8 And
being found in appearance as a man, He
humbled Himself and became obedient
to the point of death, even the death of
the cross.

F. Self-emptying was not of His nature but in
limiting His power.
G.The life of Jesus was in the will of God, and
the cross was the final expression of that
will.
9. IV. HE BECAME SIN
A.2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who
knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might
become the righteousness of God in Him.
B.1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in
His own body on the tree, that we, having

flesh, when He had offered up prayers and
supplications, with vehement cries and
tears to Him who was able to save Him
from death, and was heard because of His
godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He
learned obedience by the things which He
suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He
became the author of eternal salvation to
all who obey Him,
12. V. HE BECAME THE AUTHOR OF SALVATION
B.In the days of His flesh Jesus learned
obedience by the things He suffered.

who obey.
13. VI. HE BECAME THE FIRSTFRUITS
OF THEM THAT SLEPT
A.1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ is
risen from the dead, and has become the
firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
B.Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who
raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,
He who raised Christ from the dead will
also give life to your mortal bodies through
His Spirit who dwells in you.
14. VI. HE BECAME THE FIRSTFRUITS
OF THEM THAT SLEPT
C.After the cross comes the resurrection,
and after our release from the prison-
house of death comes life everlasting.
D.Because Jesus rose from the dead, we
have a guarantee of endless life.
E. Men are in bondage to death through fear,
but now, in Christ, that is gone.
15. VII. HE BECAME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE
A. Acts 4:10-12 let it be known to you all, and to all
the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom
God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands
here before you whole. 11 This is the 'stone which
was rejected by you builders, which has become
the chief cornerstone.' 12 Nor is there salvation in
any other, for there is no other name under heaven
given among men by which we must be saved.“
B. The experts were wrong! They rejected Jesus in
their limited vision and unbelief.
C. The chief corner stone is seen to be
indispensable.
16. VII. HE BECAME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE
D. 1 Peter 2:4-7 Coming to Him as to a living stone,
rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and
precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being
built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to
offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God
through Jesus Christ. 6 Therefore it is also
contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion A
chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who
believes on Him will by no means be put to
shame." 7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is
precious; but to those who are disobedient, "The
stone which the builders rejected Has become the
chief cornerstone,"
17. VIII. HE BECAME WISDOM FROM GOD
A.1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in
Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom
from God--and righteousness and

and the wisdom of this world is
foolishness to God. I Cor 1:20-25

19. WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME?
A.CHRIST BECAME ALL OF THESE SO WE COULD
BECOME NEW
1.2 Corinthians 5:14-15, 17 For the love of Christ
compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died
for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those
who live should live no longer for themselves, but for
Him who died for them and rose again. 17 Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things
have passed away; behold, all things have become
new.
2.Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither
circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but
a new creation.
