Through its software Predix, GE has been developing several applications that can now be embedded in applications in Brazil, among which we can highlight:
- Parking: Through cameras installed in fixtures, citizens can identify with the help of their smartphones the nearest available spot from where they are. On the other hand, municipality can monitor the period that this person stays in the spot, making the proper collection of taxes.
- Security: There is an application that detects the crack of gunfire, indicating the police in real time, where it occurred, the moment of shooting and the type of weapon used.
- Remote management: control, remote monitoring and triggering of LED fixtures. It is possible to turn on and off, or dimerize the light source remotely. It allows the determination of energy consumption of each point of light the city. Provides the read of current and voltage of every point, that combined with the product operation time determines the necessary preventive maintenance of the light spot. Can inform the point of light that are turned off during the night and that are lit during the day, optimizing and accelerating troubleshooting.
- Weather conditions and air quality: assists in the weather forecast and determines air quality in different points of the city.
Security - Led drives new outcomes and opportunities for cities, from parking optimization, to traffic control, to safety and security, to emergency response, environmental analysis and more.
Our view on Intelligent Cities at Current takes all of these into account. Our overall mission is focused on:
Reduce – Reduce energy costs and consumption by adopting energy-saving technologies such as LEDs.
Produce – Become more energy independent, resilient and environmentally friendly by adopting on-site generation technologies, including solar and combined heat and power.
Shift – Leverage energy storage, EV charging and demand response to reduce energy cost, consumption and our carbon footprint.
Optimize – Turn energy data into actionable information through the use of sensors and the Industrial Internet.
| Imagine if we could use LEDs, which are configured much like a computer, coupled with sensors and software, to drive outcomes – the type of outcomes that capitalize on that data-driven business environment before us and the type of outcomes that help business solve very real challenges and create very real opportunities.
| We’re entering a world where street lighting will be able to arm first responders with a real-time view of an area before they even arrive on scene or warn of weather events, from hurricanes to floods, before they happen.
| So this is a space that’s real and growing and we’re only limited by our imaginations at this point.
