2. My First views of TPACK
• When I first learned about TPACK my views
were limited. I drew upon my past experiences
and tried to related my experiences as a student
to the ones that I would probably have as a
teacher.
• I used my past experiences to fill out my
knowledge of TPACK where I could, such as the
content and technology sections.
• In the following slide are my views from the start
of the term.
3. TECHNOLOGY
CONTENT
Technology: I feel most
comfortable with this aspect
because I use it in my
everyday life all the time. I
have experience with
various resources and can
generally navigate new
resources with little difficulty.
Pedagogy: I don’t feel like
I’ve learned or know
much about this aspect. I
will have to research
more on learning styles
and different age
groupings.
PEDAGOGY
Content: I feel fairly
comfortable with the
content that I would be
teaching. I have
studied Drama for a
long time and I also
have a lot of practical
knowledge of it.
Although, I do still
have lots to learn
about it.
Relationships between each aspect
TC: I am fairly comfortable that I have some
knowledge on what resources would help
enhance the teaching of my major subject.
TP: I have not learned enough about
pedagogy to feel comfortable knowing what
technologies to use.
CP: I am a little more comfortable with the
interaction between content and pedagogy
because I have past experience with
teaching this subject to various age groups.
I still need more knowledge on learning
styles.
4. What I have learned about TPACK
• During the semester my knowledge of TPACK
grew exponentially.
• I learned a lot more about pedagogy and how it
is useful for teachers to use this knowledge in
their classes.
• I learned how to manipulate and use pedagogy
to help students and eliminate learning barriers
for them.
• I also learned how knowledge of pedagogy can
manipulate teaching styles when it is combined
with Technology and Content.
5. My Current Knowledge of TPACK
• My current knowledge of TPACK is much more
well rounded than it was at the start to the
semester.
• I have learned how more about all three aspects
and even about how to combine them.
• The next slide shows a new chart with my
current knowledge.
6. CONTENT
TECHNOLOGY
Technology: My knowledge
of technology has remained
relatively constant. I have
learned some know tools
that would be useful for my
major, and this is has been
very helpful. I am still
comfortable with my
knowledge on this aspect.
PEDAGOGY
Pedagogy: Over the course of the
term I have learned a lot more about
this aspect. About teaching different
types of learners and creating a
lesson that is helpful to everyone. I
am much more comfortable with this
aspect now.
Content: I am still very
comfortable with know
knowledge of the
content in my major of
studies (Drama). I’ve
learned a lot in my
other courses to help
me expand upon this
knowledge this term.
Relationships between each aspect
TC: After learning about some new
technological resources and gaining a
broader content knowledge , I am confident
that I can apply the appropriate technology
for the content of my major.
TP: Since learning how flexible
technological resources and realizing that is
easy to adapt your resource and teaching
style to all types of students I have gained
more confidence in my TP knowledge.
CP: I have gained a lot more knowledge
about pedagogy and how to teach all types
of learners. This has help me feel confident
that I could use appropriate teaching
methods for all students in my major of
studies.
7. Examples of TPACK in use
• TPACK is useful in a number of diverse
situations, for example:
– Teachers can use TPACK to help them make an
effective lesson plan for a class of diverse learners.
– Teachers can use the relationship between
technology and pedagogy to pick the appropriate tool
for their class
– The relationship between pedagogy and content
helps teachers understand how to best approach the
content they are dealing with.
8. What I still need to learn
• Though I have gained a lot more knowledge in
all aspect of the TPACK module it is important to
realized that there is still much more to learn.
• Particularly in the section of pedagogy, there
seems to be a never ending amount of
knowledge to gain. It would be very beneficial to
learn even more about how students learn and
their different learning styles because it would
allow teachers to be even more effective in their
lessons.
9. How TPACK Helps Teachers
• In the end, TPACK is one of the most useful
resources for teachers, and I feel has been one
of the most beneficial things I learned in this
class.
• This model helps teachers not only create
effective lesson plans for the content they will be
teaching but it also helps them to understand
how to effectively use technology in conjunction
with their subject matter. It also helps them
remain aware of the many types of learners in
their classroom and make certain that all
students can learn effectively.
