A cover letter is one of the most important tools in job
seeking.
The purpose of a cover letter is:
• To tell the employer why you are interested in the job
• What qualifies you for the job
• Request an interview
Cover letters usually have three sections:
• Beginning
• Middle
• End
5. Sections within a Cover Letter
Beginning - the introduction.
• Point of references
• Personal research of the company
• Objective statement
Middle – the body of the letter.
• Qualifications and Accomplishments
• Highlight two or three skills
• Use Active voice
End – summary
• Repeat interest in job
• Request for an interview
• Dates of availability for interview

8. What is a Scannable Resume?
Scannable Resume:
• A scannable resume is one that is created specifically with the intention
of being scanned by a computer.
• A scannable resume has the same information as a traditional resume
when it comes to professional history and qualifications.
• It includes the same information such as, education, work experience,
honors, activities, and any others skills.
9. What is a Web-Based Resume?
Web-based Resume
• A Web-based resume has more advanced features and creative
elements.
• This kind of resume is an actual public web page that employers can
see.
• Contains images, graphics, and sometimes even video clips.
• To create a Web-based resume you need to get an HTML editor.
10. Differences between Hard-copy
& Web-based Resumes
Hard-copy Resumes
• Hard copy resumes are generally made on word
• Processing programs (example Microsoft works)
• Formatting the resume to have a clean appearance, helps
employers find the best employees.
• Be careful in picking a format style, Some are easier to read
than others.

Web Based Resumes
• Web based resumes are made on the computer.
• Formatting for Web based resumes is only acceptable for
applying for jobs online.
• This formatting helps other computers recognize it and makes
it easier to open.
• Web based resumes can be read anywhere that has an internet
connection.
12. Conclusions & Recommendations
In this report we have covered the following information:
• The purpose of a cover letters is to tell the employer why you
are interested in the job, what qualifies you for the job, and
request an interview.
• The appearance of the resume should be easy to read, well
formatted, and visually appealing to the eyes in any form.
• Differences between web and hard copy resumes are: Method
of creation, how each is read, and how each is delivered.
• A scannable resume is on-e that is created specifically with the
intention of being scanned by a computer.
• Web-based resume has more advanced features and creative
elements.
