Average Salaries Business Improvements
•	 Transit Times is measured from the time a shipment leaves to the time it arrives
with the customer.
•	 The maximum inventory level is the maximum inventory that can be held at any one
time in a business.
•	 The inventory buffer is the maximum level of inventory that should be held to meet
emergencies.
•	 The load capacity is how full the vehicles are based on the number of shipping unit
footprints that are carried by the vehicle.
•	 The vehicle turnaround time is measured by the average time between the
transports arrival and departure.
•	 Freight bill accuracy can be calculated by dividing the number of error-free freight
bills by the total number of bills.
•	 The lead time is the amount of time a new order will take to be delivered.
•	 The point at which a new order is to be placed is the re-order level.
•	 The re-order quantity is the amount of inventory to be re-ordered based on demand.
•	 Economic ordering quantity is the most cost effective amount of inventory to be
ordered based on usage, costs and inventory holding costs.
•	 Inventory turnover measures how many times a year the organisation is able to sell its
inventory.
•	 The inventory holding is the length of time taken for the inventory to be sold.
•	 Inventory wastage is the amount of inventory to be wasted in the production process.
•	 An inventory take is the physical count of the inventory held at the end of the financial
period.
•	 Inventory holding costs are the cost of holding the inventory in the warehouse.
•	 A man hour is the amount of work performed by the average worker in one hour,
estimating people productivity in uniterrupted labour.
•	 Inventory carrying cost measures how much it costs an organisation to store
inventory over a given period.
•	 The inventory turnover measures how often a year the organisation can sell its
entire inventory.
•	 The inventory accuracy is measures by taking a headcount of items in stock and
comparing it to what is recorded in your database.
