Sermon by: Brian Birdow
2. Objective of lesson
1. To describe God
2. To show the war between God
and the gods.
3. To show the desire of the gods
3. Who is God?
➡GOD — the Creator and ruler of the
universe and source of all moral
authority; the Supreme being.
✴Genesis 1:1-10 …turn with me please…
✴Psalm 89:5-17 …turn with me please…
4. Who are the gods?
• The gods of this world is the devil and his servants.
• 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 …turn with me please…
• 2 Corinthians 4:1-4 …turn with me please…
• 2 Corinthians 4:4 in whose case the god of this world
has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they
might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of
Christ, who is the image of God.
• Notice >>> the god of this world. <<< and
>>image of God<<…….god vs. GOD!
5. God vs. gods
• Genesis 3:1-13 …turn with me please…
• Genesis 3:1 Has God indeed said?, Did God
really say? As if God cannot communicate His
will clearly? This is how the devil works, “God
didn’t really mean what He said.” You
misunderstood Him! The devil begins
questioning what GOD has spoken!!
6. God vs. gods
• Genesis 3:3 God has said.
• God is a excellent communicator, Eve
understands and recalls His command
perfectly!
• You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch
it, lest you die.
7. God vs. gods
• Genesis 3:4
• The god of this world is opposing GOD or The
Supreme ONE!
• You will “not” surely die—The >>god of this world<<
is assuring Eve that she is without danger or risk of
injury or loss. He is confident … you will not die!
8. God vs. gods
• Genesis 3:5
• The devil is appealing to Eve’s pride! You can be like
God and God doesn’t want you to be like Him.
• When you eat you will be able to truly see or
comprehend like GOD! You will not good and evil!
• All you have to do to be like GOD is eat the fruit! This
is the serpents temptation!
9. God vs. gods
• Genesis 3:6
• She realized the fruit is good to eat or for food.
• The fruit looked good also.
• The fruit would make her wise, she would be like
GOD!
• She touched it, she took it, she ate it, she
shared it!
10. Application
• Genesis 3:1
• The devil ask Eve a question about God, she
should have referred him to GOD! Do not take
another man’s word for it, go to the source, the
word of GOD! We need to learn that certain
conversations we must shut down, quick fast and
in a hurry!
11. Application
• The devil entices us through the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes
and the pride of life or vain glory of life!
• Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for
food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree
was desirable to make one wise, …
• 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the
eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the
world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he
who does the will of God abides forever.
12. Application
• God means what He says!
• Genesis 3:3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst
of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall
you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
• Genesis 5:5 So all the days that Adam lived were nine
hundred and thirty years; and he died.
• Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
14. GOD rescued us from the god of
this world
• Acts 26:15-18 And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord
said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. 16 But rise and
stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this
purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in
which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to
you,
• delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom
I am sending you 18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn
from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that
they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those
who are sanctified by faith in me.’
