Crowdfunding is a way to raise funds for a specific cause or project by
asking a large number of people to donate money, often in small amounts,
and usually during a relatively short period of time. Crowdfunding is done
online, often with social networks, which make it easy for supporters to
share a cause or project with their networks.
Organizations, businesses, and individuals alike can use crowdfunding for
any type of project, for example: charitable cause; creative project;
business startup; school tuition; or personal expenses.

Theme Color: Select your organization’s brand colors for buttons and navigation

13. DONATE FORM STEP 1: DONATION OPTIONS
Headline: large text across the top of the form.
Donation Frequency: choose what options to give your donors: one-time donation
only, recurring monthly donations, or both.
One-Time Donation Values: the preset amounts available to choose from when a
donor has opted to make a one-time donation (they can always type in their own
amount by clicking CUSTOM)
Recurring Donation Values: the preset amounts available to choose from when a
donor has opted to make a monthly recurring donation
Donor Comments: choose whether or not donors can include a comment with their
donation (enabled by default). These comments are not displayed anywhere
online, but are available to you in your report center.

14. DONATE FORM STEP 2: DONOR DETAILS
Headline: large text across the top of the form.

If you’d like to direct donors to a
specific page after they complete
their contribution, enter the URL here.

earlier in the process) before being
redirected back to the original page
on your site that they clicked from.

16. FINALIZING YOUR DONATE BUTTON
Once you're done, click Create to save the button.
Now you’re ready to add it to your website! You have 2 options:
Copy and paste the full HTML code provided to add the button to your website.
Choose this option if you don’t currently have a donate button, or if you want to
replace the button you already have.
Copy the URL only to replace in the code for your existing donate button.
Choose this option if you like the design of the button you already have on your web
site, you just want it to point to GoFundMe Charity instead of your current provider.
@JuliaCSocial @GoFundMeCharity
17. FINALIZING YOUR
DONATE BUTTON
Pro-tip: You can also use the
above URL by itself as a quick,
easy way to collect donations!
Use it to share in social media
posts, digital bios, or link to it
behind any other button or
navigation item on your
website.
@JuliaCSocial @GoFundMeCharity
18. WHY HAVE A CUSTOM CONFIRMATION PAGE?
Remember the two main reasons donors
don’t give again:
They don’t feel like their donation made a
difference.
They haven’t seen meaningful
communication about the impact of their
gift.
Why not get the relationship started on
the right foot with a thoughtful and well-
crafted Thank You for Donating page?
@JuliaCSocial @GoFundMeCharity
19. GENUINELY THANK
THE DONOR.
“We could not do this work
without you.”
“Thank you for your
partnership.”
“Thank you for your investment.”
“We are building something big
together.”
“Our work isn’t done yet, but
with your help, we have
accomplished a lot.”

30. TIPS FOR USING THE
CAMPAIGN UPDATE TOOL
Using the Campaign Update tool at strategic times during
your campaign (such as halfway or close-to goal) helps
generate excitement and a sense of urgency in your
donors.
Use photos to convey impact.
Snap a live video of your work in the field (where possible).
Send it out to everyone that donated to demonstrate impact.
Announce stretch goals.
Thank people for donating, and ask them to consider starting
their own fundraiser!
@JULIACSOCIAL @GOFUNDMECHARITY
31. NONPROFIT EXAMPLES: CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Here are some examples of ways that nonprofits have used the Campaign Update
tool to provide progress updates and critical information to their supporters:
NYC Makes PPE: Making and Donating PPE to Healthcare Workers
Feed Hero Nurses Fighting Covid-19
Be a Masked Hero: Send Masks to Medical Staff Now!
@JULIACSOCIAL @GOFUNDMECHARITY
32. SEND A THANK YOU
EMAIL WITHIN 24
HOURS
Follow up a donation with a “thank
you” within 24 hours. You can send a
creative thank you email that doubles
as a donation receipt.
Ask them to share your social media
posts on their personal pages
Send out a donor survey to get more
information about your donor,
including their affinities, preferred
communication styles, and their
desire/ability to volunteer.
@JULIACSOCIAL @GOFUNDMECHARITY
37. SHOW THEM THE IMPACT BEFORE ASKING AGAIN
Send an email or letter to each of your new donors that specifically addresses the
impact of their gift.
Talk to your donor about the lives their changing and the work they’re now a part of.
Share a special video or photograph of your clients or work in the field.
Share at least 2-3 nonprofit stories with your donors, providing a “zoomed out” view
about why your organization is involved in your line of work and how your donor
plays a role in that success.
