Personal Development, Health
and Physical Education.

2. Do we need PDHPE in schools?
Yes we do. There are many reasons :-
We need to train our bodies just as we train our
brains.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
Social, mental, physical and spiritual health is
developed.

3. Physical Education
Physical activities like playing,
exercising, dancing and being active
helps to keep our bodies healthy.
A healthy body is a healthy mind.

4. Personal Development
Interpersonal Relationship skills are developed by
building positive relationships.
Growth & Development – understanding one’s
personal identity, values, one’s own body and the
changes that occur.
Safety – road safety, school and home safety.

5. Health
Personal Health choices on nutrition, drugs,
environment and preventive measures.
Sickness and disease like obesity, diabetes and
high blood pressure can be prevented with a
balanced diet and regular exercise.

6. 5 Skills Gained
Communicating – expressing needs and wants, listening
and responding.
Decision making – responsible in making informed
decisions with regards to health and lifestyle.
Interacting – working cooperatively in a group, abiding by
rules, friendships and supporting others.
Moving – skills to play games and move effectively.
Problem solving – observing, questioning and researching.

7. If we did not have PDHPE in
schools….
Students will be bored and dull resulting in poor
concentration in the classroom.
Unable to make informed decisions about themselves
causing low self-esteem and depression.
Unable to build strong relationships with peers.
The value of physical activity could be
underestimated.
Children could develop sicknesses and diseases
caused by overweight and inactivity.
