2. • Theology is a trialogue – God, believer, believing
community
• It is not a verbal dual, but a search for the deeper
meaning of the transforming experience of God
• It is a communication of who God is, what we are
& what the world is
• Theologizing is a continuous and renewed
process of interpretation, systematic reflection,
articulation and praxis after encountering a God
who communicates himself with humans and their
world.
3. Theologizing involves :
• Intra-communication
• Inter communication
• Extra-communication
• Ex-communication
4. Theologizing as Intra-
Communication
• Christian Theology expresses this encounter with
God in terms of revelation and faith
• God’s communication is an offer of a relationship
• Faith is a response to this communication
• This communication between God and humans is
an intra-communication
• It is God’s own way of sharing his loving presence
5. Theologizing as Inter-
Communication
• Theologizing is a process of discovering
God’s presence in the inter-relationship
among humans
• It leads to building up of the Body of Christ
6. • The source and modal is the communication
among the Persons of the Trinity
• It is not the monopoly of a few specialists,
but the bounden duty of every believer
• The Church has to be the sacrament of
authentic inter-communication
7. Theologizing as Extra-
Communication
• It is proclamation, witnessing, sharing faith
experiences etc
• It has always been a real problem for the Church
# tempted to follow the way of the world
# self-emptying attitude of Christ was found
to be too idealistic and impractical
# justified attitudes like self-affirmation,
arrogance, triumphalism etc without
challenging them
• The Church needs to communicate the Good
News with the same self-emptying attitude of
Christ
8. Theologizing in the Context of
Ex-Communication
• Any person who willfully alienates from the
loving God who offers communion, is in ex-
communication or in sin
• In the context of ex-communication
theologizing as communication would mean
recognizing and naming the demonic forces
that destroy communion
• The Church must prophetically challenge the
forces of ex-communication
9. • So,
theologizing without the experience of the
Ultimate, be comes merely an academic
exercise
• Communication is the sharing of the logos
of God.
