INTRODUCTION
You are embarking on the most exciting and challenging journey (of your life!) - becoming
a designer! From today onwards, you will look at things differently. You will see. Are you
ready to observe, experience, analyse and critically reflect? Now put on your walking
shoes, thinking cap, open your mind, focus your eyes, unleash your passion and don’t
forget… your (smart) phone! And…off you go!
THE BRIEF
You have been assigned to one of the six groups of around 15 students each. Refer to the
lists in the 2nd floor foyer. Make sure to fill in your name, surname and programme (interior
design or architectural technology), as well as the name of your group coordinator, in the
allocated space below. You need to submit this completed handout tomorrow morning.
We request that you please remain in your groups and stick to the route – refer to the
attached map. Although the questions only pertain to 5 of the 18 buildings marked on the
route (that is numbers 1, 4, 9, 13, 17), please take note of the other buildings and make
sure that you keep to the route so that you don’t get lost. Please mind the traffic and
don’t wander around on your own in the city. Your first stop will be the Castle of Good
Hope.
